John Kennedy Celtic newsCeltic youth side face an early start to the day taking on St Mirren at Lennoxtown at 11am.

Before John Kennedy’s squad head down the road to Celtic Park they’ll be looking to pick up three precious points against their SFA Youth Cup opponents.

The young hoops are trailing Hearts by seven points with two games in hand but with the Jambos having just five games left to play there is little margin for error.

After facing Inverness Caledonian Thistle at home today Hearts finish the season with four away matches at St Mirren, St Johnstone, Dunfermline and Hibs plus a home game with Motherwell.

“We can’t afford to be thinking about Hearts when we have our own matches to look after,” Kennedy stated.

“The boys have put together a good winning run since the season resumed and they know that they have to keep that going.

“There is nothing that we can do to effect Hearts other than to keep winning our matches and the players know that. That’s the only pressure we can put on Hearts.

“Hearts are a good side like ourselves, they’ll concentrate on what they are doing and we’re doing the same, things will be tight right till the end of the season.”

Kennedy added: “We know what St Mirren are all about and they’ll give us a difficult game.

“We played them last month and that game is fresh in our memories, we won 2-1 but the scoreline should have been better.”
