Celt Findlay is the Scotland hero

Stuart Findlay was the Scotland hero tonight as Ricky Sbragia’s u-17 side beat Lithuania 1-0 at Somerset Park.

The Celtic defender headed the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to get Scotland off to the perfect start in their bid to reach the elite stage of the European Championships.

Findlay has made a number of appearances for Celtic’s u-19 side this season and played in the 4-2 win away to Manchester City in the Next Gen Series.

Lewis Kidd was the only other Celt to make the starting XI although Jamie Lindsay and Denny Johnstone did appear as substitutes.

In the other group match Denmark and Iceland drew 2-2, Scotland’s next match is on Thursday at Dumbarton when they face Iceland with the final fixture against Denmark on Sunday at Cappielow.
