Joe Ledley: this really is just the start

Joe Ledley can’t wait to add to his medal collection.

The Welshman’s contribution to Celtic’s title success was summed up on Saturday when he sealed a typical driving performance with a well timed run and neat flick to score the fifth goal.

Ledley missed out on the run-in last season due to a hanstring injury but after tasting success is anxious for Celtic to build on the hard work of the last two campaigns.

“We’re a young team and we are hungry,” he stated. “We want to win things and it was some feeling when that goal went in because I had been trying hard to get one.

“I’ve got nine goals now for the campaign and if I can just get one more, I’ll be happy with double figures as a contribution.

“This really is just the start for us. Hopefully we can use this league win to bring more success to the club. We’re still in another competition, we want to qualify for the final and win that one, too.

“The main aim is to play Champions League and I have no doubts that we have the players to do it. We enjoy our football.”

With Celtic fans filling three stands at Kimarnock Ledley was delighted to share the team’s success with the punters that back the club every week of the year.

“Celtic is a fantastic club and the fans back you know matter what,” he added.

“The fans at Kilmarnock were quite unbelievable and they have been like that all of this season.

“I don’t know how many of them were here, but it didn’t feel like an away game.

“I can’t imagine what this would have been like at home but they have followed us all season and deserve credit for being behind us.”
