Rangers faint hopes of avoiding liquidation took another blow yesterday as Duff and Phelps launched a £25m claim against the clubs former lawyers, Collyer Bristow.
Announcing the latest legal move Duff and Phelps also claimed that they hoped to announce a preferred bidder by the end of this week.
With Craig Whyte refusing to speak with Bill Miller it appears that Bill Ng from Singapore is the only potential saviour for the stricken club.
Rangers currently have a number of outstanding legal matters and football charges to face to complicate the possibility of exiting administration.
Last night Duff and Phelps announced: “We can also confirm that we have instigated legal proceedings against Collyer Bristow, the former lawyers of the Club, and The Rangers FC Group Limited in the High Court in London for substantial damages suffered by Rangers Football Club.
“It is our intention to announce a preferred bidder this week and we can assure all supporters of the Club that we are doing everything in our power to make that happen.”
Responding to the claim Collyer Bristow announced: “On March 23 Rangers administrators made a request to vacate the previously agreed court date in order that they could consider bringing ‘wider claims’ against Collyer Bristow in relation to the takeover of Rangers Football Club and its subsequent administration.
“At this time the Court set a deadline of April 16 for parties involved in the transaction to submit their claims.
“As expected, late yesterday evening Collyer Bristow received detailed particulars of claim on behalf of the administrators. A significant proportion of the damages claimed by the administrators (in excess of £25m) relate to claims for ‘consequential loss’ which we believe to be highly speculative.
“As we have previously stated, it is our intention to contest all claims brought by the administrators in the strongest possible terms and this remains our position.”

What FAINT hopes…..they are goners
Long may the legal eagles fight over the remains leaving them in complete limbo. Meanwhile the players will walk / jump ship ASAP citing every excuse under the sun.
Shows how incredibly stupid the media are that they keep asking a bigot like Dungwall for his opinion…like he knows anything worth hearing.
Corrupt refereeing decisions against Celtic? Here in honest Presbyterian Scotland? Naw! Canny be! Must be paranoid to think that! Masonry in the SFA? Here in honest Presbyterian Scotland? Naw! Canny be! Must be paranoid to think that! Cheating at Rangers Football Club? Establishment media cover up? Here in honest Presbyterian Scotland? Naw! Canny be! Must be paranoid to think that! Change the rules so the cheats can continue to cheat? Of course! We need the cheats. We need the corruption. We need the bigotry. We need the establishment club and all the anti-catholic sentiment to go with it. Without Rangers we will all die! We need to change the rules to allow them to compete. We need to cheat to allow them to cheat more. Here in honest Presbyterian Scotland? Must be paranoid to think anything different.
Well said . I agree with you 100%.
To Peter, Dermot and the other powerbrokers at CFC,Please Please Please do something, anything to get us away from this fecked up, corrupt little ‘adoptive’ country of ours. I fear if we don’t escape now, it’s gonna get much, much worse for us bhoys!!!

I get where you’re coming from, to a point TC, but I’m unsure if what you have is a siege mentality or a form of Stockholm Syndrome!!!You are a stonger man than me,coz it hasn’t affected or scunnered you as much as has me!!
I am forty this year and I honestly still dream of a time where we can watch Celtic play quality opposition on a regular basis, I’ve had enough of watching shite players and listening to even shiteier ‘fans’.
I’ve had enough of the feckin succulent lamb media trying to convince us that we’re paranoid. I’ve had enough of these peeepul bringing us down to the sewer wae our association with them. No disrespect mate, but I don’t want to fight them for another 800 years, I just want to rise above them!!! Hail Hail
I just can’t get enough of this.
Can’t disagree with lots of the above.
But does anyone know why we played Wison at centre half rather than Wanyama?
I thought Wilson was history having been dropped after Kilmarnock howler, his cushioned header to hearts player for their first goal was quality as inept!
Can only assume that Loovens is in the shop window and Wilson was played to make him look good.
At the cost of a trophy- great stuff!
