Are the SFA setting up a Sion saga?

Biram Kayal Celtic newsAlthough most folk might not have noticed, I’ve been a bit quiet on here the past few weeks, I blame work but I have been keeping up with things on Twitter and of course on this website and various other sources of ‘internet bampottery’.

Like most folk, I am getting fed up with this Rangers saga but there seems to be a new twist to it every day so I guess it’s difficult not to talk about. I heard a Rangers fan, yesterday, saying that regardless of what happens, the club will be fine as they’re too big to go out of existence. It’s the arrogance of their fans who have that mindset that certainly doesn’t endear them to very many people.

The most recent thing to come to light is the fact that Rangers have taken the SFA to a Scottish court instead of going via a FIFA / UEFA governed court.

Apparently, by agreeing to play in Scotland and therefore be governed by the SFA, Rangers, and all other Scottish clubs for that matter forfeit any ‘normal’ legal rights that they may have had.

Although I don’t know the full ins and outs of the FC Sion story, I know that they challenged a sporting decision in a Swiss court and that seemed to upset the powers that be.

Will UEFA / FIFA look on Rangers challenging the SFA in the same light ? If so, then the repercussions could take up at least another few months of reading and writing.

I did say before that I was fed up hearing and talking about Rangers so it now seems a bit silly for me to spend time and give an option for more people to read what I am saying about them so I will move on to another football team in Glasgow.

They are called Celtic and as much as it may be difficult remember, we are the league champions. Oh, that day at Rugby Park was great and all going well, we could have more days of celebration like that in the near future.

Since there hasn’t been a great deal of news coming out of Celtic park, I feel I should comment on the Real Madrid friendly match that we are due to play in the US. I have written about this subject in the past. To summarise, my view is that the club shouldn’t be travelling so far when it’s likely to be close to a Champions league qualifier.

We risk fatigue and injuries and gain some money. How much money? I do not know but if it’s not enough to purchase more players to cover potential fatigue and injuries, then it’s not the correct thing to do for me.

Other fans, especially non UK based fans have told me that it’s a great way to allow them to see Celtic play and it’s also a good way to give exposure to potential new fans in places like the US and Australia etc.

It’s a debate that everyone will never agree on really but a good one none the less…

The final thing I have been thinking of is the squad of players that we have. If the mainstream media are to be believed, then it’s almost certain that Celtic will sell at least one of our more prominent players.

The likely candidates would have to be Mulgrew, based on the season that he had last year. Perhaps Izzy based on his player of the year season the year before and some of his international appearances.

Moving on to the middle of the pitch, Brown, Kayal, Ki, Ledley, Commons, Wanyama and Forrest could all be sold for a healthy profit.  Most seem to think that Ki should be the man to go. I’m not convinced, my choice is pretty unpopular and it’s Kayal.

I want to make it clear that I think Kayal is a great footballer- when fit. I also have to question his temperament. Shortly before he signed his new contract, he was rumoured to have refused to play a game against Hearts. Of course, I don’t know if that’s the case but if it is, then I would have let him see out the remainder of his contract and refused to play him, sell him or increase his wages.

I suspect that he would be one to stay though given that he is a bit of a fans favourite.

As of yet, it’s too early to say who we will face in the European qualifiers but I really do miss the Champions League nights at Celtic Park, as far as I am concerned, they blow the derby games out of the water by a long shot.

As always, I like to hear your thoughts, good or bad, on what I’ve wrote so use the comments box or feel free to give me a shout on twitter –

Steven, no-one can blame you or anyone else for the obsessions with Rangers, it’s hard for anyone in Scottish football not to become obsessive about the whole saga. For all of those who say we are obsessed, I would say, when it affects every aspect of the game you love then you’re damn right! If my club has been cheated out of titles because they couldn’t play on a level playing field, then hell yeah I’m going to be pouring over everything. When other teams have been cheated as well, then it goes further and it proves that the whole setup is tainted. I want to see just how much of our beloved game has been corrupted. I don’t care who it exposes. If it exposes my team somehow then bring it on. I want to see everything. I want it all out in the open. I want no part of a game that everyone is colluding in. As it stands it only appears that those connected with Rangers have been guilty of it, but more has yet to come out in the wash. If it means that there can be a wholesale sweep of everything that is wrong with the game, then make it so. So, to my mind, there is nothing wrong with the current obsession. It affects everyone who has anything do with the game (and we know it affects clubs in other countries). I don’t think I’m any more obsessed with this story than they are with child abuse so I have no case to answer to them. At least my interest is regarding the interests the game and nothing to do with a morbid and sick fascination with something they regularly describe the act of in horrific detail. So they can shut the hell up about my “obsession”.

Now to Celtic. The “pre-season” game with Real Madrid: terrible idea. I said it to my man a few days ago who said that these things happen to raise revenue. Don’t care. Our priority should be the league and the Champions League, none of this jaunting halfway around the world for a friendly. What if players get injured – right at the start of the season? Madness! What about the jetlag and how it affects the players? I think it may have been Kris Commons who said that it had a huge impact on the players last season when they went to Australia. Well we have huge games coming up and we need to be focussed on that. The money from the Champions League pot is of far greater worth than a jaunt to America or anywhere else for that matter. I know that fans who normally don’t get to see them are getting the chance but surely the fans want the club and team to come first?

As for players, there is no way should Mulgrew, Ledley or Brown be sold. I think they are absolutely vital components of the team. Perhaps Kayal may go, but I don’t see it. I wouldn’t listen to rumours personally. Izzy, gives another dimension to the team and I wouldn’t want to sell him either. He can be a real handful and he has shown he is returning to form after his injury and he will prove useful in European games I think. I have no idea who will go as I never speculate on, but I’m just saying who I would like to see kept.

On the rangers in admin. saga, I think we all know what the game is….one big stalling tactic, clocking up the hours@ £400 plus per hour, with some of the players cut 75%in wages(up to now)but this will change on June 1st when the players go back on full pay with no ££££ to pay them. We’ll see who amoung them is loyal now !!!
I do think when looking at potential signings,we must go for a bit of experence on the side.

Up to now we seen to go mostly for young players with a sell on value, it’s a bit of a hit or miss situation, we’ve done ok at this, and there have been a few disapointing exceptions to this policy.
Yes go for Andrews and a few others who will bring experence to our team… now , and not in a couple of seasons.

Am i maybe the only one who thinks this whole huns saga is just one big pile of shite, the footballing body will tell the SFA to step up to the plate and make an example of the huns, and they will, but not in any way that they should. The huns will walk away virtually sanction free, the so called CVA will be excepted as the small creditors around Ibrox will not go against the fear of being victimised by the mutant mob of sleekit sallys army of morons. HMRC will take what they can get to shift this toxic load from their sight. I know its not just me, but i can see gloating and putridness from the hoards of huns as they claim victory overall due to the weakness of our SFA and the money rules all attitude of some SPL bosses.

On the downsize of the Celtic squad, i say who knows, id offload most fringe players and bring in at least two new faces. Id like to see some of the under 19’s brought into the team on a regular basis as i would prefer a young team of Celtic minded players rather than a team of “i can get more in the EPL if i spit out the dummy”.

On the away game in Philly…….told you money is the root of all evil.

Ok so my ranting is done, im not long awake as i was nightshift last night and i am again tonight so thats my excuse for rhe ramble.

Anyway HH to you all and enjoy a saga well better than star wars.

    Better late than never eh!
I’m beginning to think that this whole pretentious fiasco is just a ruse by Dumb & Dumber to get to the point of no return where they have no other choice but to set up a newco with the blessing of the SFA and SPL all of which has been orchestrated by one Campbell ‘Corrupt’ Oglvie. They will then gather in all those who have been sitting back in the wings ready to invest in the newco so that ‘hey presto’ they are back in big business again with no debt, no big tax case, no sanctions and no integrity – but they won’t care because it will be the necessary waste dump required for their vile hordes to operate just as before. Then over time the cracks will be papered over by the m.s.m. in the hope that all will be forgiven through time…NO CHANCE!
