Brian Kennedy's bloody warning

Would-be Rangers saviour Brian Kennedy has warned Duff and Phelps that they’ll have blood on their hands if they fail to salvage the stricken club.

A day of drama and brinkmanship had clearly got the better of Kennedy as he spoke to Sky Sports News about the unfolding events at Ibrox.

Having seen his ‘final’ offer rejected by Duff and Phelps the Edinburgh born businessman called a media conference with Paul Murray but it was in front of a worldwide audience that Kennedy let his emotions boil over.

“I hope Paul Clark knows what he’s doing,” he warned. “I hope Charles Green knows what he’s doing and I hope David Whitehouse knows what he’s doing because, if they don’t, they will have blood on their hands.

Kennedy has maintained a high profile interest in Rangers since the club went into administration in February but not believes that the Ibrox side are beyond saving.

“Anyone with a brain in their head could see ours was a credible plan, fully funded by credible people with the right motives,” the Sale Sharks chief claimed.

“By virtue of the fact Duff and Phelps have chosen not to go with us, then they better have somebody good. It better be a fully funded, credible consortium and not fall away next week. The result would be the liquidation of Rangers.

“It’s too late for us now. Our bid had to be accepted today to allow us to complete a CVA in time. This is not some kind of clever brinkmanship. We were ready to be in there at 9am on Saturday morning to start the process.

“When you have an institution like Rangers which is at death’s door, what is crucial is deliverability. Duff and Phelps cannot afford to make another mistake, as they did with Bill Miller. We knew what the numbers were, we understood what funding was needed, we could have executed a deal. Anyone else coming in at this stage is behind the eight ball.”

Former Sheffield United owner Charles Green is reportedly in advanced talks with Duff and Phelps about attempting to take on the club and producing a CVA.
