Celtic call off Fojut deal

Celtic have pulled the plug on the deal to sign Polish centre-half Jaroslaw Fojut on a Bosman deal.

Fojut suffered a knee injury playing for Slask Wroclaw a fortnight ago and met up with Celtic’s medical team in London last week.

A pre-contract deal had been agreed but with fears that the defender may have suffered cruciate ligament damage the deal is now off.

Neil Lennon admitted: “It looks like Jaroslaw has done his cruciate and that deal will be off now. He was in London on Tuesday with our doctor Roddy Macdonald to see a specialist.

Of course when you sign a player on a pre-contract there is always that clause in it, so we have the option to break it.

And going on the medical advice we’re getting we won’t be taking him. I think he’s had a cruciate injury before and it looks like he’s suffered the same thing again.”

With Glenn Loovens and Daniel Majstorovic out of contract during the summer bringing in two centre-halfs as well as securing the future of Fraser Forster or otherwise will be Lennon’s transfer priorities.
