Charles Green newsCharles Green has told the SFA to go easy on Rangers.

Despite the threat of FIFA sanctions effecting the international team as well as clubs playing in UEFA competitions yesterday was noted for the sound of silence from the SFA.

The Court of Session verdict that the SFA were wrong to impose a 12 month transfer ban on Rangers has left the SFA with a stark choice.

They either ban Rangers from the Scottish Cup or suspend the club- any other punishment would be deemed unlawful by the court of session.

The original ruling by the SFA detailed a catalogue of misdemeanours and neglect by Rangers directors and officials rather than a one off mistake by Craig Whyte.

With uncertainty over Rangers the SFA are now dealing with Green as well as Duff and Phelps while Whyte remains in charge of 85% of the clubs shares.

The SFA are under pressure from FIFA to come down hard on Rangers but Green has pleaded for them to go easy on the stricken club.

“There has been talk that if the SFA appeal to Lord Carloway who rubber-stamped the original decision, then Rangers could be booted out of football for 12 months or even for good,” the former Sheffield United chief told The Sun.

“If everyone steps back from the understandable emotions of this for a second I can’t believe anyone who loves the game in Scotland wants that.

“I want to speak with Stewart Regan to try and find the right path for Rangers and the game as a whole in this country.

“There is a balancing act here. We accept Rangers should be punished for the sins of the past. I am not disputing that, the SFA have an obligation to do that.

“But I have to stress that the fans of Rangers, administrators and myself feel the initial penalty given to the club was too harsh.

“Now there has to be a solution and a way out that doesn’t cause carnage for the game in Scotland.”

Rangers currently owe money to clubs in Austria, Sweden, Italy, France, Scotland and England ans are offering a CVA that would give HMRC a maximum of 9p in the pound for unpaid tax during the 2011/12 football season.

Charles Green asks the SFA to go easy on the £4m profit he hopes to make.

Judging by this demented saga you would have to conclude that all business and most lawyers are liars, crooks, or bampots- or all of the above.

well mr green, its either rangers get suspended, or all european competition for scottish teams is void for a year…i really do fail to see rangers’ plan with the court of session, unless they think the sfa will favour the sky deal for a ‘still alive’ rangers next season over european income, surely the SFA cant be THAT corrupt…there would be no way to hide it either, they HAVE to do the right thing!

The SFA are that corrupt. They are, always have been, and frankly, always will be as long as the old boys club is in effect there.
