Neil Lennon has claimed that Celtic’s summer transfer plans won’t be effected by the Rangers crisis.
As clubs across the SPL fret over the possibility of greatly reduced commercial money the hoops boss has a strategy in place to take Celtic into the group stages of the Champions League.
That could bring in £15m to the club with Lennon single minded on how he intends operating during the transfer window.
“We’ve got a plan, an idea of what we’ve got in front of us,” the SPL Manager of the Year explained. “Regardless of what happens to Rangers it will have no relevance to what we are trying to do.
“I’ll have a go at bringing players up but I won’t overpay. A lot of players in England are overpaid. If clubs want to do that I won’t begrudge a player getting a better deal elsewhere.
“You have a set figure, if he asks for more then good luck to him. I’d like to think we could compete with the majority of teams in the English Premier League and the Championship.
“It gets a lot of exposure, there’s a lot of money down there but I think it’s overpaid.”

We picked up real talents such as Ki, Kayal, Izaguirre, Wanyama who were nowhere near the mega bucks money being paid to far less talented players down south. Ledley, Matthews were ideal as free agents but other than that I would completely ignore the English market.
Much better value for money available elsehwhere…If other Scottish clubs are feeling the pinch then bargains could be had here as well, although I wouldn’t be drawn into any bidding wars…make the bid and walk if not accepted.
