Hearts boss Paulo Sergio has sealed his departure from Tynecastle.
Less than a year into the job Sergio has committed the cardinal sin of publicly criticising Vladimir Romanov.
The wealthy Lithuanian has never flinched from sacking managers as popular figures such as Jim Jefferies and George Burley can confirm.
Saturday’s Scottish Cup success over Hibs may have secured Sergio legendary status with the club supporters but it’s almost certain that yesterday’s lap of honour at Tynecastle will be his farewell to the club.
“It is not my decision to stay here,” he admitted. “I have already said that I would like to stay. I don’t want to stay to any price but at this moment there is no price, there is nothing.
“Until this moment people have said they want me to stay but there have been no other talks on the table to fix things.
“We are losing too much time because normally at this time in the season, by the last game, I have things all done for the next season.
“At this moment I have nothing and that is bothering me and pissing me off a little bit at this moment. But, I am tough enough to deal with that.
“There is no point in me putting deadlines down because people are here and whatever is going to happen will happen.”
Romanov left Hampden before the final whistle to board a flight to London and wasn’t present at yesterday’s homecoming.
Sergio is returning to his family in Portugal with no plans being made for a return to Tynecastle.
