BBC act as Charles Green researchers

BBC Scotland have been acting as researchers for would-be Rangers owner Charles Green!

Less than a week away from the vote on Green’s CVA proposal that would see creditors paid less than ten pence in the pound the BBC have been investigating how Rangers can strengthen their squad for next season.

Last week Ally McCoist admitted that he was unable to offer out of contract players such as Sone Aluko or David Healy a new deal while the future of others such as Steve Davis and Allan McGregor is in doubt after they negotiated cut price get out clauses in return for accepting 75% pay cuts.

Football clubs in Scotland, England, Sweden, Austria, France and Italy are owed money by Rangers but despite those issues the BBC have uncovered a loophole that would allow the Ibrox club to sign players whilst still in administration.

The SFA applied a transfer ban on Rangers once they went into administration and rejected their attempt to sign Daniel Cousin.

Despite all the obstacles facing the club the BBC have been investigating how Rangers could bring in new players IF Thursday’s CVA is accepted.

Yesterday Alasdair Lomont revealed on the BBC website: “But SPL rules state that, with board approval, clubs in administration may replace players whose contracts expire.”

Putting his information to Green the former Sheffield United chief was encouraged by the news replying: “If you are correct, that is an avenue open to the club.”

Lamont followed up by asking Green about signing players while offering creditors less than ten pence in the pound and where the money would come from.

Green confidently replied: “No money is required for players, most are free because of the financial crisis across Europe. That’s why I’ve added £1.5m to the budget.”
