VfR Aalen have announced a pre-season friendly with Celtic on July 17.
The club are based in the town of Aalen 40 miles east of Stuttgart and won promotion to Bundesliga 2 after finishing last season second in Liga 3.
Kickers Stuttgart have already announced that they will play Celtic on July 15 with a friendly against Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena taking place on July 21.
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Markus Schupp is the sporting director of VfR Aarlen and is looking forward to the visit of Celtic.
He said: “We are delighted to have a club of Celtic’s stature coming to the are, it’s a great reward for our fans as we build up to the new season and the challenge of playing in Bundesliga 2 for the first time.
“Celtic have got a worldwide following and we look forward to having their colourful fans in our stadium. It’ll be great to see and hear the Celtic fans in full voice celebrating the great successes of Lenny last season.”
The trip to Germany and Holland will be to provide Neil Lennon’s squad with the bulk of their pre-season conditioning providing a balance between fitness work and match action.
Celtic’s first competitive game of the season will be a Champions League qualifier on July 31/August 1 in the third qualifying round.
The SPL champions will be seeded in that round but could face a side whose domestic season is underway.
Celtic will also play a friendly against Real Madrid in Philadelphia on August 11, the second weekend of the SPL season.

When i read the headline & seen the game in Germany & knowing we tend to play some games against lower league teams it made me wonder if we might have being playing Rankers, Tainted fc, Newco or Sevco or whatever the EE will be called.
