Time for Doncaster and Regan to reveal their cunning Sevco plan

With the start of the Scottish Football League season a month away it’s time for Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster to reveal their cunning plans for the future.

Talk of reconstruction has been going on for a fortnight now without a direct quote from either of the executives’ charged with looking after the welfare of the game.

Taking the lead from Kilmarnock’s Michael Johnston the criteria seems to be anything goes as long as there is a Rangers involvement somewhere.

In the absence of any comment it seems that Doncaster and Regan are pursuing that thought vigorously.

This morning, within an hour of each other, nameless reports with details of the reconstruction appeared on the websites of the BBC and STV.

Were they flying a kite in the hope of getting some attention or part of the process to brace Scottish football fans for an outrageous stitch up proving once and for all that the entire game revolves around one club.

According to the blueprint ‘uncovered’ by the BBC Dundee will take Rangers place in the SPL with Green’s newclub slotting into Division One.

Other ideas being floated include:

If Regan and Doncaster think that there has been SPL supporter opposition to newco being welcomed into the SPL they are in for the fright of their lives if they think they can pull off the deal outlined above.

Season ticket holders from Stranraer and Annan through to Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle will be turning their back on the business as any pretence of a sport or level playing field will have been obliterated.

The irony of it all is that most supporters of Rangers would rather find a club of some description start off in the Third Division and work their way up on merit rather than benefit from outrageous gerrymandering to find a place in Division One.

If Regan and Doncaster continue to stay silent in the golden age of accountability and transparency they’ll find their glittering careers grinding to a halt in the same manner as Doncaster experienced at Norwich before he was thrown an SPL lifebelt after steering the club into League One.

The only question that needs asked is: Would they be upto the same diplomatic gymnastics if St Johnstone or Motherwell were being liquidated?
