Forster's agent is hopeful of Celtic deal

Fraser Forster’s agent is hoping to tie up a permanent deal to take the ‘keeper to Celtic.

A £2M fee has already been agreed with Newcastle for the 24-year-old who has spent the last two seasons on loan to the SPL champions.

Securing Forster on a permanent deal is one of Neil Lennon’s signing priorities as the hoops boss prepares his side for the Champions League qualifiers.

Forster’s agent Mark Curtis told The Sun: “I will call Peter Lawwell on Thursday and arrange a time to meet and try to finish things off, we need to. Fraser’s been away but I spoke to him and know where we need to be. I will now arrange to meet Peter.

Curtis added: “Other clubs are not in his mind. Does he want to stay at Celtic? Yes.”

In two seasons at Celtic Forster has made 90 appearances and firmly established himself as the clubs first choice keeper.

His injury time penalty save against Hearts last December won over any supporters doubting his ability with the 6ft 7 Geordie going on to be one of the main reasons that Celtic clinched the title by 20 points.

Lennon has never hidden his admiration for the keeper and will be delighted if a deal can be sorted out.

Last month the hoops boss said: “I had a chat with him and he’s very very happy here. It’s a question of trying to get him and his representative in and trying to thrash something out.

“He’s our main priority, he’s had a fabulous couple of years here, he’s grown and grown to such a point that not many people talk about Artur Boruc who was probably the best goalkeeper here for 30 years.”
