STV reveal Doncaster's sell-out Sevco deal

The extent of Neil Doncaster’s desperation to save newclub Rangers has been revealed in a document sent to all Scottish Football League clubs.

With SPL clubs forced into voting no to a share transfer due to supporter pressure Doncaster is hoping to parachute Charlie Green’s newclub into the top tier of the First Division.

In order to win over SFL clubs to turn the First Division into a promotion procession Doncaster has offered a £1m television sweetener and a promise for reconstruction creating play-offs and a wider distribution of commercial income.

The bullet-points of the document have been published by STV and look certain to galvanise opposition to the deal by supporters throughout the SFL.

Doncaster’s position looks untenable with the document clearly his design with certain elements of it indicating that it doesn’t have SFA approval.

The document highlights five scenarios to deal with the liquidation of Rangers ranging from an SPL place for newclub through to complete expulsion- Doncaster concludes that neither option is practical.

To find a middle ground the failed former Norwich chief executive suggests that a First Division place is created for Green’s club or SPL 2 is formed with Rangers invited straight in- that option doesn’t have SFA backing.

The benefits of a First Division place for newco apparently include:

Immediate cash benefit for all 30 clubs!

Gate receipt uplift in Division 1

Potential hospitality & advertising values increase

Sponsors receive added value through additional exposure

Scottish Government remain committed to our community strategy

SFL has more influence at the top table

Play-Offs restore the sporting meritocracy and deliver additional value.

The complete disregard for sport and supporters is obvious throughout the document showing Doncaster’s contempt for the game.

Each day that he remains in position is a day closer to the curtain coming down on Scottish football.
