SPL Celtic newsDundee United have ruled out any plans for SPL2.

Inverness Caley Thistle and St Mirren, who have both recently been outwith the SPL, seem to be in meltdown mode at not being able to welcome Sevco until 2015 unless they find themselves relegated.

Over 10,000 fans turned out at Dens Park today to witness a 3-0 win for the visitors with United issuing a website statement to end speculation that Neil Doncaster is about to launch plans for SPL2.

The United statement reads: “Following yesterday’s democratic vote by the SFL clubs in favour of admitting The Rangers Football Club as an associate member of the SFL, but with the Third Division being the only acceptable position.

“Dundee United will now focus on our upcoming campaign while working together with the other SPL clubs to ensure the stability of the SPL and Scottish football in what will be an uncertain and extremely challenging financial environment.

For the avoidance of doubt, following yesterday’s vote, the Club would not support any counter proposals for the formation of SPL 2 or regarding any other route for The Rangers Football Club to join the SPL.”

Meanwhile it has been claimed that Stewart Regan faced calls for a vote on no confidence at Friday’s SFL meeting where he pleaded the case for a First Division place for Sevco.

Regan’s claims of social unrest and a slow lingering death for Scottish football haven’t been well received by the bread and butter clubs striving to improve the well being of the game.

The SPL meet on Monday when they are expected to announce the identity of Club 12- less than two weeks before the SFL season begins.

Well done dundee utd, never had much time for them but my opinion has changed of a few people in football, is it maybe time for a delegate from each of the supporters groups outside zippos travelling circus to meet and make plans to make sure that we all support each other as much as possible to make things better than hopefully they ever havr been

Excellent comment. I agree this really is the time we should all pull together. It’s supporters who fought for our voice to be heard. We should now pay that back with our feet and bums on seats. If we can also get rid of tweedledum and tweedledumber then this will have been a worthwhile close season.

      sands1888, jackmac 100%agree.

Lets show Traynor Johnstone and the rest of the succulent lamb brigade, they just like rangers 1872-2012 are dead and no need for the bull and crap anymore, well in the arabs………

I for one intend to go to more away games and I hope many other Celtic supporters do as well. The attitude of most other clubs has been a revelation to me. They are clearly not “huns without the busfare”. Now that we have got rid of the cancer from the set up ( at least for the moment) we should move on in the 21st century and develop a much healthier and modern outlook to our game.

I hope we can build good relationships with the vast majority of teams now that we are free of the old firm tag, guilty by association it made me boil, now is the time for us to stand together and make sure the corruption ends and is never allowed to return, lets support these small teams, they have showed they are men of integrity. Our support alone is the one that can make or break scottish football, if they last until the end of the season sevco home attendances will not top 10k thats a cert, they are glory hunters. Its in there dna, 10k tickets @ £15 say 150k home gate? I bet it costs near that just to police it, the grim reaper is closing in on them again!

just a thought regarding football finance remove ogilvie regan and doncaster and have one person who understands football and fairness plus one wage is better than these three stooges

Could you imagine if the 30 odd teams said a massive fuck you to the spl and done a deal with the sfl and started a new setup and left behind the rest to compete in a 6 team sp hell

  • williebhoy says:

As 30 clubs have already shown they can live without regular visits from Celtic and the now defunct club…why can’t the remainder ???

They already have more money than any SFL club – get your own house in order.

We can therefore rely on Dundee Utd to hold firm but what about the rest? I smell a rat and it smells of treachery, bribery, corruption and deceit. I think there is secret plotting going on this weekend between Scottish footballs corrupt administrators who are getting at certain club chairmen, bribing them with fear and incentives or even threatening them with untold consequences unless they to do a u-turn to invite sevco into the SPL as club 12? Why was Dundee told to vote at the last minute on Friday after being told not to? Could it be they wanted to keep Club 12 open for Sevco? Why are the chairmen of Inverness Caley and St Mirrin now all of a sudden sounding like they wish to change their minds?

There is an SPL meeting on Monday. I imagine another William Wallace-like treachery taking place and if they do a u-turn all hell will be let loose. What part is Campbell Ogilvie playing in all this? The role of Longshanks perhaps? Depends who shakes who’s hands in a funny way I suppose. Nothing changes. Why should we expect anything different?

It’s an utter disgrace that these men are still in there jobs . When our the chairmen of the spl gonna show they stand apart from these sky tv newco sicofants.and do whats in the best interests of scottish football.
