Green issues Celtic challenge

Charles Green newsCharles Green believes that Sevco will be in a stronger financial position than Celtic at the end of the season.

Since being granted conditional membership of the SFA on Friday the former Sheffield United chief has been on a charm offensive to win over reluctant Ibrox fans.

Season ticket sales have been counted in hundreds rather than thousands with Green’s boast that the club will have £30m in the bank at the end of July likely to fail.

After seeing off Brechin in the Ramsdens Cup the Yorkshireman issued a bullish challenge to the SPL champions.

“If you look at the balance sheets at the end of next season you should see the strength of the two companies,” Green claimed.

“We are in the Third Division and Celtic are in the SPL and what I’d like you to do is promise me at the end of this season, when all the games are played, examine the balance sheets of the clubs and tell me which one is the strongest?

“Then let’s see who has got the strongest balance sheet.

“We’ve not got the debt that any of these clubs have and on the last day of the season I would really enjoy some clever financial analyst looking at the balance sheets and debt-to-equity ratio of every club in Scotland.”

Rangers fans have been reluctant to buy into Green’s Sevco vision but that hasn’t put the Ibrox chief off from raising funds.

He added: “We said we would raise between £20million and £30m but the reason we couldn’t put the season tickets on sale was the same reason we couldn’t go out and raise further money until we knew we had a football club that was going to be allowed to ply its trade.

“That’s why we got that signed off on Friday and we have a meeting at 8.45am on Monday so we are hardly letting the grass grow under our feet.

“This is the start of the process on Monday when we go to London to start the meeting with stockbrokers. That is when the fans can take up ownership. They can buy into the club.”

What name that club takes remains a mystery with HMRC clamping down on phoenix businesses that bear a strong resemblance to a business that has been liquidated within the previous twelve months.

Am I the only one who thinks Sevco are doing a decent job here? As RFC’s Tribute Act they are getting most of it bang on.

Personally I think Sevco did quite well at impersonating RFC.

Sometimes it is wiser to remain silent than spout absurdities and prove your insanity. Green and McCoist seem ready to self combust.

Er… yep! spot on with one, No debt (it’s early yet) however it’s only because you went belly up due to gross mismanagement & downright cheating and you have left a trail of debt & misery in your wake. Honestly, this care in the community it’s just not working is it? Hail Hail & GBNL

Absolutely fantastic Mr Green, your team will have no debt and more equity than everyone else? except every club in the SPL will have more income, players of a higher value (unless of course you intend to value Lee McCulloch and co in the £30million a player bracket). Sevco with less income and less prize money intending to be at the top of the pile in terms of debt to equity can mean only one thing – they are not going to spend any money.

The point Mr Green also missed is that David Murray before him tried to sell shares in an attempt to raise equity and Murray International Holdings (MIH) ended up having to underwrite £56million of a £58million share offer. And as Mr Green rightly states there is an economic depression going on out their and that will affect his share issue big time.

Green needs the Huns to buy season tickets and as most don’t trust him and haven’t he has obviously taken fat sally’s advice to try and slander Celtic to garnish favour from the knuckle-draggers. Anything it takes to get the biggots to change allegiance to his Sevco team and part with their money.

At the end of the day I’m happy that he is so willing to stay and milk them dry. Green’s business plan states that he will pay his investors 8% and that they will have made a £20million return on their £5.5million investment in a few years – guess who’s going to be paying for that with their season tickets. Green doesn’t give a toss for the huns he just wants his money, and good luck to him.

Just read an article there, this bampot was asked about his boast about being debt free and it being down to the old club nothing to do with him, his words but in same article repeatadly refers to rangers this and that, and sends his team out in there kit playing under there old name, fucking retard. Can anybody be so slow, or is it an act

  • willibhoy says:

As expected Chico the clown is now mouthing off, trying to show the Govan Blue Sox fans he is heading in the right direction to get them to buy season books & draw Celtic into a war or words. Anything to keep Sevco in the limelight…his words are hollow as Sevco won’t exist at the end of the season without a massive backing from the fans (Unlikely as the last share issue raised £ 1m or less) – Sell high priced season books, even the easily deluded can see they team are crap and playing against rubbish…so why pay double the price.
