SFA cave in to Sevco to grant conditional membership

The SFA have once again demonstrated their complete disregard for supporters and the laws of the game by providing Sevco with a conditional membership following two weeks of negotiations.

This will allow Sevco to face Brechin City in the Ramsdens Cup on Sunday but since the licence is only conditional a Sevco win could be meaningless if they are not given full membership of the SFA.

No where in the Articles of Association for the SFA is there a mention of conditional licence but not for the first time the ruling body appear to be making things up as they stumble along regardless of what the rules state.

The SPL’s investigation into dual contracts remains open with Charles Green showing his contempt for tonight’s deal by vowing: “The view of the club, the fans and indeed newcomers like myself is that those titles and those games were won fairly and belong to this club. We will fight it to the finish.”

Laughably on April 25 Regan claimed: “The Scottish FA has a responsibility to all its members and must implement its rules without fear or favour.”

While today’s negotiations were going on Sevco had former Scotland striker Kevin Kyle join Ian Black and Craig

Why a governing body needs to negotiate with a new club that fails to meet membership criteria is difficult to fathom but with Stewart ‘slow lingering death’ Regan involved anything is possible.

Regan fought valiantly to provide Sevco with an SPL place then attempted to come up with a cunning plan to provide a First Division place with both being overwhelmingly rejected by the member clubs.

Any other club attempting to gain SFA membership without any audited accounts would have had their application rejected by email but on the eve of the new season the SFA have spent a fortnight trying to come up with a deal or package that suits themselves and Sevco.

There were calls for a vote of no confidence in Regan on July 13 when SFL clubs rejected his attempt to catapult Sevco into the First Division.

With Brechin, East Fife and Peterhead due to face Sevco over the next fortnight Regan is once again showing his contempt for the clubs and supporters that make up the majority of the Scottish game.
