Murray in charge of SPL opener

Calum Murray will be in charge of Saturday’s SPL opener between Celtic and Aberdeen.

Sky Sports will show the match live with a 12.45 kick-off meaning an early start to the day for many supporters.

Murray has already been to Celtic Park this season taking of last weeks friendly against Norwich City.

Aberdeen have been relatively active in the transfer market bringing Niall McGinn and Jonny Hayes to Pittodrie from Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle.

The last time that the two clubs met was in March at Pittodrie where a 1-1 draw ended Celtic’s long winning run.

A deflection off Andre Blackman cancelled out a goal from Anthony Stokes with Neil Lennon less than happy about a 12 noon Saturday kick-off at the end of an international break.

There was only one clash between the two clubs at Celtic Park last season with the home side edging the points with goals from Ki Sung Yeung and Charlie Mulgrew either side of an equaliser from Jack Ross.

Following on from the Aberdeen match Celtic will be racking up the airmiles with trips to Helsinki and Philadelphia in quick succession.

Neil Lennon’s side will fly back from the Champions League tie with HJK Helsinki straight after the match then fly out to Philadelphia to take on Real Madrid.

Celtic were scheduled to meet Dundee United at home on August 11 but that game has been postponed to allow for the Real Madrid match.

No date has yet been set for the Dundee United game with both clubs hoping to be involved in Europe.
