Craig Levein banned the Daily Record from his pre-match media conference for tonight’s Scotland v Australia match.
The Scotland boss was unhappy with the Record’s headline relating to the decision to call up Ian Black from Third Division Sevco.
When the squad was announced Levein said that it would be difficult to include Third Division players for international football.
On Sunday night Black joined up with the international squad with Scotland No.2 Peter Houston singing his praises the following day to justify the about turn.
Highlighting the about turn in policy the Record wrote: “Last week – Levein: It is very difficult for anyone playing in the Third Division to be up to the speed of an international; This week – We won’t snub ‘Gers’.
That prompted the Scotland boss to deny two Record reports access to Tuesday’s media conference to promote the match at Easter Road.
Levein is a former columnist at the Record with the decision to ban two reporters further highlighting the desperation of picking Black who has been booked in two out of three games since switching to Sevco in the summer.
The Record reports missed the following explanation from Levein who said: “Going down to the Third Division lowers the chances of these players getting selected.
“But it doesn’t stop them from being selected. They just come down a bit because one of the boxes isn’t ticked.”
Scotland go into tonight’s match on the back of a 5-1 end of season defeat from the USA with pressure increasing on Levein ahead of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Can’t blame Craig from banning the DR.
If the Scotland boss thinks SFL3 players will get us into big tournaments, its time to start looking for a new manager, a mean whats next 5-6-0 formations?…does no1 apart from me see how bad this manager is?…he should have been sacked after the night with no strike force that was unforgivable.
Cant think for the life of me why celtic dont ban every rag from the ground, they are scum and deserve no interviews etc from us. Maybe before the internet it was the best way to interact with the fans, those days are past
