McGeouch tweets his thanks for messages

Dylan McGeouch has tweeted his thanks for all the messages sent to him after his head injury against Real Madrid.

The young midfielder had been Celtic’s best player against the Spanish champions until a sickening midair collision with Nuri Sahin in the 71st minute left him motionless on the ground.

After a six minute delay he was stretchered off the park in a neck-brace and rushed to hospital where a broken jaw was diagnosed.

McGeouch will return to Glasgow with his team-mates and was happy to report: “Back in the hotel after a night in hospital, fly home with the team later today. Thanks for all your messages really means a lot.”

Earlier today Gary Hooper had tweeted: “Hoping to see @DmcGeouch today. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

After the match Kris Commons had tweeted: “Think @DMcGeouch has broke his jar and may need a op. think he’s doin ok though. He’s a tough cookie!!”

Speaking to the Celtic website Neil Lennon said: “He is coming back with us which is great news. He needs a plate inserted in his jaw and I think he may made need an extraction of a tooth which has been damaged.

“Thankfully there are no neck or head injuries. It was very similar to the injury Henrik had when he broke his jaw against Livingston that day. So we might be looking at four to six weeks.”

James Forrest has been withdrawn from the Scotland squad with Sevco midfielder Ian Black called in alongwith Ross McCormack of Leeds United.
