Celtic striker Lassad Nouioui on video

Twenty-four hours after Levante announced his signing Lassad Nouioui completed a two year contract for Celtic.

The 26-year-old striker arrived in Glasgow to finalise his deal and will be eligible for the Champions League campaign.

Nouioui hasn’t played any football since finishing last season with Deportivo La Coruna and is unlikely to be involved in the Champions League opener against Benfica.

After seeling his move to the SPL the Tunisian told the Celtic website: “I´m absolutely delighted to sign for Celtic.

“Celtic is a huge club with a magnificent history and a fantastic support. I know all about the wonderful atmosphere at Celtic Park and I can´t wait to play there.

“I know that Celtic already has a great squad of players and I´m very much looking forward to joining up with my team-mates. And I hope to play my part in bringing success to the club.

“And, of course, I´m also looking to competing in the UEFA Champions League with such a great football club.”

Speaking after his side had drawn 2-2 with Hibs Neil Lennon said: “He will do a couple of days’ fitness work because he obviously hasn’t had a club since the end of the season and we just need to gauge his physical condition and take it from there.

“He is six foot two, he leads the line very well, he can play inside or outside the box and he can head it very well.

“We have liked him for a wee while. I know most of his goals have come in the Second Division in Spain but it is still a good standard and he has played for Deportivo in the last couple of seasons. He will bring another dimension to the team.”
