Daniel Majstorovic Celtic tattooFormer Celtic defender Daniel Majstorovic has made his first appearance of the season for AIK Stockholm after injury ended his hoops career.

Majstorovic played for the first half of AIK’s Swedish Cup win over Torslanda on Wednesday and reported no ill effects.

The 35-year-old spent two seasons at Celtic but was robbed of playing his part in last season’s title success after sustaining cruciate ligament damage during an international training session.

That injury cost him a place at Euro 2012 but while some players would have opted for retirement the 35-year-old accepted a deal with AIK and a return to Sweden after a career dotted around Europe.

“That was a big match for me,” the defender admitted after turning out in front of 1,023 fans at Second Division leaders Torslanda.

“It was good fun to be back playing again after seven months out injured. Now I need to get more match fitness, physically I feel good but I need to get my sharpness back.”

AIK are currently in joint second place in the Allsvensken tied four points behind leaders Elfsborg alongside Hacken and Malmo.

In Sweden yesterday six Celtic players were involved in Scotland’s 3-1 win over their u-17 counterparts.

Jordan Hart started the match in goals with Connor McManus and Luke Donnelly also in the starting XI.

Mark Barrowman, Calum Waters and Liam Henderson all appeared as second half substitutes.

The friendly was arranged as a preparation for the u-17 European Championship qualifiers to be played in October and November. Scotland have been drawn alongside Georgia, Luxembourg and Ukraine.
