Stevie Kean Celtic newsBlackburn fans finally got their wish last night when Steve Kean quit the Lancashire backwater.

The longest running hate campaign aimed at a football manager finally ended when Kean announced his decision to quit from a London hotel ahead of today’s match at Charlton.

Blackburn fans went to incredible lengths to demonstrate their dislike for the one-time Celtic reserve and will now have to find a new focus for their delusions with the club no longer bankrolled by the Jack Walker Trust.

Mark Fish of the Blackburn Rovers Action Group said: “I am delighted. It’s been a long 12 months for all involved, and I never thought I’d see the day when he went.

“The supporters are liberated and free of Steve Kean. I am just enjoying the fact that he has gone.

“He has treated the supporters with contempt. We’ve got 8,000, 9,000 boycotting and empty seats are one thing he can’t mask. I have longed for this.”

Last night a statement from Kean said: “For reasons that I cannot discuss on legal advice, it is with deep regret, given my hard work and service for the club for a number of years, that I have been forced to resign as manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club with immediate effect, due to my position as team manager becoming untenable.

“I wish to thank all the players and coaching staff for their great support and the majority of the fans, who now see their club heading towards an automatic promotion position back to the Premiership. I wish the club all the very best for the future.”

Tim Sherwood is the bookies favourite to replace Kean with Eric Black taking charge for today’s match at Charlton.

SHOCKING way to treat a person at his work, fair enough if you don’t like it stay away but the abuse this guy took for trying to keep BLACKBURN in the prem was a joke there a nothing club who only won something because a guy had some money to waste on them there a championship/league 1 club at most small town club with heads in the cloud fans wish them nothing but bad luck.

Steve Kean a man who kept his dignity when all around him lost theirs, good luck steve hail hail to one of the Celtic family

    • mark says:

Not the way to treat a guy trying to earn a living would you like to be treated like that at your job ya mug if you’ve got one

      • Joe says:

Dead right Mark. They are a nothing team in a nothing league with nothing to offer anyone. The so called fans of this lot of idiots deserve what they have coming next.
Once again the dillusional english who think they are better than they are.

        • mark says:

bang on joe there like sevco fans thinking they’re bigger than they are, looked a big team when getting bankrolled now the cash is gone so are they. hail hail

  • Alex says:

Seriously Mark? what are you talking about? Stay away? This club belongs to the fans of Blackburn Rovers. The fans love this club and care for it enough to take it back from the hands of Kean.

Just imagine if someone as poisonous as Kean is managing your club as a football manager. Just imagine. I will really love it if Kean takes over Celtics when your current manager leaves. I like to see what your reaction is.

    • mark says:

What did he do that was “poisionous” we had a guy tony mowbray who was murder but he never got the abuse that kean got a honest manager trying to get on with it but it just never worked out thats how it goes sometimes. If you think the abuse steve kean took was correct you need locked up. Enjoy the championship hopefully its a long stay.

  • neil says:

off course every one will agree with me when i say Alex is a complete and utter dick!

  • J C Knowles says:

All you Celtic fans slagging off us Rovers fans for giving Kean a hard time simply do not understand the complexes and ins and outs of his situation at Rovers – all you know comes from TV clips and sound bites from Talksport and SSN, mostly supplied to them by Keans agent Jerome Anderson.

Lets be honest, if Kean had Rangers connections rather than tenuous Celtic connections, you lot wouldnt give this guy the time of day ! (as demonstated by the comments of Mark)

  • tom says:

Hmmm… I wonder if there was a similar article when liverpool fans forced out hodgson to make way for dalglish?

    mark… good for you.

  • Kelvin says:

It is only because it is blackburn that people think the fans are wrong.

If Venky had not appointed him it would not have got to this. People like Mark think they know everything. He is probably a Manc United fan who never goes to the game and does not understand the downs a club can face.

So Mark nobody cares what you think Kean has gone. Let the Premier League await. Mark We are a premier league club so you are wrong. we went 10 years without Jack Walkers money. Man Utd buy players when they do not have the money to pay upfront so do not give me the buy the league.

Man Utd bought the league and they keep buying the league. Liverpool cannot spend enough money to but the league and chelsea and man city bought the league too so shut up ok you have no idea.

  • jebus says:

blackburn are a wee team and will spend most of the next 10 years in the championship, where they belong!

  • stevie says:

Something inside me hopes Rovers get relegated. Supporters are called so, because they support.
Maybe just maybe if Blackbrn supporters had backed there manager last season they wouldn’t be were they are.

  • Thai Tim says:

Blackburn should show abition and go for Harry Rednapp.

  • mark says:

Blackburn should show abition and go for fat sally mcmoist then they would really have something to complain about…

  • Jimmy Mac says:

What do the English know about loyalty and supporting one of their own? Kean may have been shite at his job, but big baws the man has for standing in front of the disloyal Rovers fans for so long. And I’m a Motherwell fan, so that blows your Rangers theory out of the water.

  • Tam says:

Two names that cannot ever be taken seriously… ‘Kelvin’ and ‘Venky’.

Away and boil yer heid son. Blackburn are a joke in England as well as here.

  • J C Knowles says:

I’d like to apologise to the Celtic fans for my comments. I just got overheated in my hatred of Kean. Blackburn will never have the loyal following of the mighty hoops.

  • Fat Sally says:

    Did somebody mention pies?
