Green plays the 'tangerine' trick

Desperate Charlie Green has posed in a ‘tangerine’ Rangers away top to the delight of North American supporters.

With details sketchy about a possible share issue Green has been drumming up support in North America while leaving Ally McCoist at Ibrox to deal with the on-field crisis.

The Sevco spokesman has been on a whistle stop tour of four cities in four days with every day Christmas for the fans turning up to listen to Green.

Already he has promised a new kit deal with adidas, a lucrative commercial tie-in with the Dallas Cowboys as well as outsmarting Manchester United and Real Madrid to capture the Chinese football market.

Posing in the tangerine away top of a decade ago will send Green’s soaring popularity ever higher less than three months after John Brown urged a gathering of 10,000 fans to starve Green out with a boycott of season ticket sales.

With his confrontational style quickly winning supporters over little is being asked about the title deeds to Ibrox and Murray Park or the identity of Green’s backers with the identity of Blue Pitch Holdings.

Green’s time at Ibrox has been marked by some spectacular failings most noticeably getting a nod from HMRC that they were agreeable to his CVA proposal just days before the club was condemned to liquidation.

Promises of three billionaire investors, a 10% stake from Mike Ashley and a bank balance of £30m by the end of July 2012 have all failed to materialise.

Green has until tomorrow to answer two SFA charges of bringing the game into disrepute but after his all conquering trip to North America the Yorkshireman is likely to be more cocky than ever as Stewart ‘social unrest’ Regan and Neil ‘Armageddon’ Doncaster duck for cover.
