Daily Record and The Sun attack each other

The troubles at Ibrox have kicked off another bout of tabloid mud slinging.

With Charles Green being given a platform to tell all about the new love of his life and Craig Whyte’s re-appearance the stakes are being raised with the result of the Big Tax Case expected to be announced within days.

Yesterday the Daily Record were highlighting Green’s intention to stay in Govan till he hears the Champions League anthem over Ibrox. Accompanying the story was a claim that the SFA were holding onto £200,000 due to Rangers from the sale of Charlie Adam to Liverpool from Blackpool.

Over at The Sun Whyte was discussing his intention to take legal action against Duff & Phelps and joked that he was now loved by Celtic fans.

This morning both newspapers decided to fire back at each other with the Record claiming that Whyte ‘told his pet paper The Sun’ then adding Whyte has already used his cheerleaders at The Sun to falsely claim our exclusive on his sale of season tickets to fund his takeover was “crap”.

Not to be be caught out The Sun picks up on the Adam sell-on fee stating: “The fading Daily Record yesterday claimed Green was in another bitter fight with the SFA over £200,000 being denied them following former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam’s move from Liverpool to Stoke.

“They reported it was the governing body who had sent the agreed sell-on cash to administrators Duff & Phelps.

“But Rangers last night confirmed it’s the ENGLISH FA who diverted the money, which actually totals £220,000.”

With the soundbites from all camps cranked up the war of words online and in print is only going to become more fearsome.
