Charles Green newsCharles Green believes that his Rangers share issue is on course to be a runaway success.

Despite the bleak economic climate and uncertainty over a number of key issues at Ibrox Green believes that he has over 10,000 fans ready to invest more than £1,000 each.

No prospectus or launch date has been announced but the former Sheffield United chief already believes that he’s on a winner with the assets he acquired in June for just £5.5m.

“Over 10,000 people have registered and pledged,” Green claimed. “Those pledges in total were in excess of £21m. That’s the level of support from Rangers fans.

“Let’s be honest. Some people might have done it while the wife was out shopping. By now, the £5k might be reduced to £2,500.but even if that overall pledge amount is halved, it will still be £11m and that from fans in this climate is an amazing achievement.

“We’re not running out of money. It’s very easy for any mathematician to look at it.

“We had cash from the original investors and then we sold 37,000 season tickets.

“The player wage bill was £27m, now it’s less than £7m. Can we fund that? Absolutely.

“I am running Rangers. I’m making decisions. I’m going to protect the club with my life. Nobody is going to abuse it.”

Green has made moves to provide Walter Smith with a role at the club and gave an honest assessment of his own football knowledge despite fearlessly predicting the demise of Scottish football and the creation of a European Super League.

“What Rangers need now is people who understand football,” he added. “People who understand the club and understand the culture.

“There isn’t anyone on the board at Ibrox just now who knows anything about football — and that includes me.

“You could carry my knowledge of football in a mouse’s handkerchief! Someone like Walter would add great value. He knows more about Rangers than I’ll ever know.”

Who; he kidding getting £ 11m from those pledges…dream on will be lucking to raise £ 2m.
If it’s such a great deal, quadrupling your investment surely the sharp business brains at Piebox would simply underwrite the entire issue themselves and reap the full profits Ho Ho Ho.

I have made a few pledges ranging from £10,000 down to £5000, i am in to the tune of about £40,000, the wee bit that tells you your not obliged to pay was just like yon website they set up before, something along the lines of the fighting fund, they were bragging then that they had over £6m they got less than £300,000. Charlie thinks that some bear pledging £5000 will be good for 50% of that, deleuded to the extreme, the good news is he is bragging he does not need the money, he’s minted, every bear will feel the pressure to buy getting lifted.

  • Frank McGaaaaarvey says:

Poor misunderstood Chucky, the rags have obviously misquoted him. What he said was that he will raise around £10,000 as 1000 loyal peepel bears have each pledged £1 from their buckie funds. A spectacular and dignified gesture from the most put-upon and persecuted folk in the land.

  • StandAndDeliver says:

Sorry Charles, I’ve changed my mind. Make that 9,999.

  • HoudiniBhoy says:

I would also like to add that my sheep supporting mate has told me the Aberdeen blogs are saying the same things about pledging a lot of money, so I wonder how many other sets of supporters are doing the same thing?

I wonder if Green takes food stamps and milk tokens?
