Green Brigade newsNeil Lennon wants to see the Green Brigade back at Celtic Park.

The vociferous backing from section 111 was notable by it’s absence on Saturday as Celtic crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home to Inverness Caley Thistle.

After the match the headlines were dominated by an exchange that Lennon had with some angry fans with the cat calls more obvious without the backdrop created by the Green Brigade.

The exact reasons for the boycott are unclear but the Celtic boss would like to see the situation resolved with the sights and sounds from Section 111 booming around the ground again.

“There is no doubt that they do bring something special to the stadium,” Lennon said. “We want them back.

“I understand some of the reasons why they didn’t come to the game but we would like to sort it out with dialogue, come to some sort of conclusion and get them back supporting the team as they have brought so much to the club and the stadium, they have been so much help to the players and myself since I have been in charge.”

Looking back to Saturday’s incident with some supporters Lennon added: “I know it is difficult for fans because they are passionate about the team and want them to do well but sometimes it doesn’t help.

“I wasn’t getting any stick personally, it was directed towards the team and I was defending the team because they are giving me everything.

“I think the world of my players and think the world of my supporters as well.”

  • Shamrock hoops says:

Green Brigade, we all need you back to bring back the thunder!!

  • the reasons are as far as i know ,the determination of P.C.plod to criminalise the fans in section 111

  • pj44 says:

Hear Hear there were some green brigade members in there old part of ground on saturday, but were still stalked by stewards. The g.b. can only do so much, the team have to move the ball forward quicker to the strikers[as I.C.T and other opponents do then We’ll Bring Back The Thunder!

  • stephf1888 says:

The reasons are crystal clear and debated at length of late.
    GBGB
    UTLR

  • Tony B says:

Get rid of the current stewards and get some in who don’t have an agenda against the GB.
Equally if plod is harassing them, the club need to be vociferous in its condemnation of this practice and threaten to take it further.
What effect did the absence of the GB have on the atmosphere team and result on Saturday?

  • firebhoy says:

lads the players are professional, now that should mean they have the proper application and attitude no matter who is in the stadium or not in it, its ridiculous to suggest that the green brigades absence has any thing to do with any result, its a kop out. On the same score neil should focus his attention toward the squad and nowhere else, if the players need a kick up the yaris they should get one and not dwell on any champions league result.

  • The GB is the best thing to happen at Parkhead in years Why are they being hararased by the stewards dont they work for Celtic p lc?

  • S.ideletter says:

    Just get on with it

  • KevinBarry says:

Reasons are unclear? How more clear could they have made it? It’s been on Celtic forums all week. Who’s even writing this?

  • S.ideletter says:

Everybody needs to stop fucking moaning, we all hate it when we get beat and so we should, however giving a manager stick when we have just beaten Barcelona, best team arguably in history?? Fucking grow up and back the team or fuck off! Hail Hail, we are all Neil Lennon!

  • RW67 says:

The noise from the Green Brigade was missed on Saturday, however at least some of the GB were there. Two of them sat next to me and were quite open about the fact that they couldn’t be seen to sit in their normal seat so had simply moved to empty seats out with their normal section. Boycott is fine, but boycott the away grounds where the loss isn’t ours. The loss of funds will soon make the opposing chairman interested in the crowds policing. A boycott of Parkhead plays into Strathclyde Polices hands, who are only too glad to see the GB’s “non” attendance.

  • Vinnie says:

Spot on, S.ideletter, (27 Nov.,10.40PM) I don’t think you need to restrain yourself though and be so Politically Correct. Just tell it like it is.
    HAIL ! HAIL !

  • Neil says:

This is how you win and the GB night not agree with me?
The Green Brigade need to increase in size! maybe not to 5-10k as it needs to be managed by guys that know each other, oraganising diplayes etc
But I think there is the potential for more members or fans who can get into that area and want to be part of that unique atmosphere.
What ever, I am sure the GB will be back stronger!
