Miku loan likely to be cut short

Miku Celtic newsCeltic could be about to cut short Miku’s season long loan from Getafe.

The striker has failed to make the impact expected after arriving at the end of the transfer window failing to become a regular in Neil Lennon’s side.

With just one goal from ten appearances- away to Dundee United- it’s believed by both parties that the striker isn’t suited to the Scottish game.

Miku arrived in August with a strong pedigree and made the starting line-up for the home matches against Benfica and Barcelona.

Despite flashes of class he has failed to make a real impact on the side and has been outscored by Tony Watt and Lassad Nouioui.

Celtic had looked on the loan move with a view to making the deal permanent but that now seems unlikely.

Miku has plenty of admirers in La Liga where he has been a regular scorer with his display in the 2-1 win over Barcelona keeping him in the public eye.

Lennon is well placed for strikers thanks to the emergence of Watt with Anthony Stokes due back from injury in the new year and Mo Bangura to return from his loan spell at AIK Stockholm.

Miku isn’t the first international striker to struggle at Celtic with Pawel Brozek failing to score a single goal after coming on loan last January.

Brozek was kept out of the side by the form of Stokes and Gary Hooper then found Watt scoring twice as a substitute after replacing the Pole in an end of season match at Motherwell.

The Pole is currently playing for Spanish Second Division side Recreativo Huelva where he has scored just once in 12 appearances.

A Celtic striker should always have a very heavy goals return domestically, would like to see us buy Russell from Dundee utd in January window.

Miku no doubt has some talent, but also a very bad attitude which can spread to others…I’d have binned him long before now.

I agree with Mont a Celtic striker should ALWAYS have a heavy goals return…someone tell Sammy his job is to score goals v Scottish club which is supposed to be so much easier.

If true cant understand why he played on Saturday, maybe last chance saloon.

  • Dave67 says:

There must have been some dubiety on the part of the backroom staff as to whether he would be a success, hence the loan with option to buy. A good policy for would-be expensive signings.
