Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United newsAlex Ferguson has described the liquidation of Rangers as a disgrace.

Twelve months ago the Manchester United boss was planning a £10m plus swoop for Nicola Jelavic before the double whammy of administration and liquidation killed off the club he supported during his Govan childhood.

Ferguson has been in the spotlight this week following his verbals with officials during the Manchester United v Newcastle match but took time out to reflect on one of the major sports stories of the year.

“What’s happened to that great club is a disgrace, it’s a disaster,” he claimed. “Rangers, of course, are not Rangers as we know it. Obviously.”

Despite approaching his 71st birthday on Monday the Old Trafford boss shows no sign of easing back his workload after an incredible week of headline grabbing.

After claiming that Robin van Persie could have died during the draw at Swansea Fergie has hardly relented during a week in the spotlight.

Not content with his bullying attitude to officials during the 4-3 win over Newcastle Ferguson has followed that up with an attack on Alan Pardew and Newcastle.

‘Alan Pardew has criticised me but Alan Pardew is the worst at haranguing referees — his whole staff, every game,” Fergue fired. “He was at it for the whole game on Wednesday. He shoves the linesman and laughs about it, and he has the cheek to criticise me. It’s unbelievable. He forgets the help I gave him, by the way.

“The press have a good field day. They have addressed every possible angle. The only one they’ve not asked is Barack Obama. He’s too busy. It’s unfortunate I carry that because I’m the manager of the biggest club in the world. I’m not like Newcastle, a wee club in the North East.”

Re: Newcastle and Pardew. Its hilarious. Hypocrite ? Ferguson’s WAAAAAAY beyond a hypocrite. Pardew was an ass ONCE with refs. Ferguson does it every time his team isn’t winning with ease.

    • HoudiniBhoy says:

Sorry Phil but Pardew is every bit as bad as Ferguson, only Pardew has yet to win anything of note. I’m not excusing Fergie, not for one minute, but Pardew is quick to come out and slag off anyone he likes and quite rightly, Ferguson has put this “whippersnapper” back in his box. Pardew is consistant in giving refs stick and if it was Lenny in the SPL, Vincent Lunny would be working an 8 day week!!

  • sands1888 says:

I wonder how many shares this multi millionaire hardcore hun fan bought in his beloved club? Hun fans opinions on anything to do with football is actually less important than zero

  • williebhoy says:

Rangers are not Rangers as we know it obviously…Very obviously considering the original club is now dead

  • fallsroadcelt says:

Sorry to tell u fergie they’re DEAD

  • Ciaran says:

The liquidation of Rangers was a “disgrace”. No doubt about it Sir Alex, a disgrace that schools, hospitals and all the cash strapped public services like the ambulance service and police had to do without even more precious resources denied to them by this disgraceful football club.

An absolute disgrace that football clubs who were trying to do the best for their business, were swindled out of transfer fees and gate receipts.

A total disgrace. Everything about that old club, and most of the new one, is a disgrace.

    • barcabuster says:

Couldn’t agree more Ciaran! The “human cost”, of their deceit, fraud, treachery, and good old fashioned theft, is largely airbrushed over. While the hardships inflicted on the small, and large businesses, still unpaid by their “daein a runner frae the taxi” business practises ignored. I would love to hear more from the “wee people” who were stung by these crooks, as they appear voiceless and powerless in these austere times. Sevco FC, more than a disgrace!

    • Mick says:

Brilliant comment. The kind that has been censored by the MSM throughout.
This is the real issue, not about hard luck stories of millionaire footballers and their knuckle dragging fans, history or share issues.

  • seaney67 says:

yeah disgrace it didn’t happen sooner. When are you inviting them down to Manchester for a fund raiser?

  • Mharkopolo says:

tbh, i think he’s being quite honest, i dont think he’s denying the fact that rangers died at all. he could have pulled a jardine or a charles green comment desperately trying to safeguard ranger’s ‘continuing’ history but i think he has much more dignity than that.

  • Charlie says:

Fran Sandaza- ” I was told not to bless myself in front of the fans, when I signed for Sevco” ????? Msn not going to question that??

  • Chas says:

Agree with Mharkopolo on this one. I think he meant the disgrace was due to the mis-management allowing this to happen. Don’t know if he has that much love of them since he was shown the door as a player cos he married a catholic. Also his dad ran the Celtic supporters bus from Govan.

  • Down GAA says:

What’s with the title – Sevco liquidation ? Sevco have never been liquidated so in this instance it’s obviously correct to refer to Rangers and not Sevco.

  • Charlie says:

I hope City pip them again

  • The Tax Man says:

Fergie and Pardew, two of the biggest trumpets in the modern game. Mind you, he was right about the wee club in the north east.

  • CarlisleCelt says:

Ferguson is the greatest manager in the history of the game, of that there is no question. He is a nippy sweety right enough!

    • sands1888 says:

Not even close, look at the money he has had to spend, you think he could have won what he has with the financial restraints the big jock worked with, hes good but not even the best manager of his time

  • Thomas says:

Fergie is100% correct, it’s a disgrace Murray/WhyteMSM & others let Rangers go ‘pop’ and this new Rangers is not the real Rangers, Im Celtic/football daft and Fergie is simply the best, Id love a chat over a bottle of Red wi him.GB ye F!

  • Thomas says:

hmmm didnt mean the simply the best bit!?! ‘verrry verryy good’

  • Shamrock hoops says:

Sectarian singing at Hampden today, famine song & billy boys being sung by scotlands shame, after the media lambasting the Celtic support after dens park I expect the same to be applied to the zombies!!

  • GM89 says:

He called Rafa Benitez arrogant for calling Everton a small club, then he goes and calls Newcastle Utd a small club…hypocritical much?
