Scottish Cup newsCharles Green has taken time out from preparing for the Sevco share issue to announce that the club won’t take any tickets for the Scottish Cup tie away to Dundee United.

As soon as the draw was made various Ibrox supporters group announced their intention to boycott the match.

Revenue from cup ties is split 60-40 in favour of the home club after expenses are deducted with a full house at Tannadice likely to generate around £300,000 in gate receipts.

With Rangers endorsing a fans boycott of the match United are likely to be able to set their own pricing structure to ensure a full house of home supporters.

Despite announcing his intention to raise £20m from a share issue before Christmas Green has still to produce the prospectus for investors.

Taking time away from the stock market launch he announced: “Rangers Football Club will not be taking its allocation of tickets for the forthcoming Scottish Cup match against Dundee United at Tannadice.

“This is a unanimous decision by the board, senior management and staff at Ibrox. Everyone at this club is dismayed at the actions of certain SPL clubs, which were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers when we were in a perilous situation and we are acutely aware of their attitude to us.

“Not all clubs who voted against Rangers returning to the SPL fall into that category and indeed we made Motherwell very welcome when we played them at Ibrox in the League Cup competition recently.

“However, feelings remain very raw and it should be no surprise that we as a club feel this way.

“We should make clear that the Club, the manager and the players all look forward to a situation where Rangers fans attend every match to support the team. The fans are our greatest asset.”

It’s not known if Rangers will boycott tickets for a possible replay at Ibrox which could generate more money for United than a fixture at Tannadice.

Earlier today HMRC announced their intention to appeal against the decision of the FTT following the split verdict in the Big Tax Case.

Green is a predictable chewed cud of a man, if the hordes called for a ban on turkeys for Xmas we would see a club statement followed by an entry in the prospectus. Anyway as a gesture of support against this rogue element I’m intending on buying a ticket. As an overseas supporter it is right thing to do – cant attend but can support Scottish football. Unite with United and just mibee the newco might adjust their view on how important they are – in any case they can’t be allowed to destroy Scottish football in the way they destroyed themselves.

Green again is just appeasing the dafties, they say, he does.. he’s an intelligent idiot… and to tell these poor wee bears nothing has changed since 1872/3!!!! we all know and we should at every chance
remind them they are a new club… and I agree sell the programs for £20-25 and give f…all and a severe beating…put in their place, after all they are a lowly 3rd division club.

I just hope that the good folk of Dundee Utd;..come out in their many thousands for this game. It’s an ideal opportunity for parents to take their children…knowing that their day out won’t be ruined by mindless bigotry.
It’s an amazing chance…I hope they grab it….
This could seriously backfire on this idiot Green…
I certainly hope and pray that it does.
