Angry McCoist slams entire team

Ally McCoist claimed that he was angrier than he’s ever been after watching Sevco draw 1-1 at home to Montrose.

Just days after discussing Champions League participation and ground expansion the part-timers of Montrose brought a dose of reality to the marble staircase.

The home side looked poised to claim all three points thanks to an own goal from John Crawford until a 30 yarder from David Gray flew into the net in the 88th minute to the delight of the 150 strong travelling support.

“I’m probably as angry as I’ve ever been, certainly as a manager, with that performance,” the normally wise-cracking McCoist stated.

“I’m not even interested about Montrose’s wonder goal with two minutes to go. You could absolutely see it coming.

“Our overall performance was not good enough and our standard of finishing was probably worse than that. The players had better switch on or they’ll be completely switched off.

“Today just told me I was right in that I knew where we were, effectively. The result next week (against Dundee United) won’t tell me anything I don’t already know.

“This match confirmed where I thought we were. I would hope today’s level of performance will act as a wake-up call for a lot of the players, not even just one or two.

“My disappointment covers the entire team. I said to them after the game we live and die as a team. That will always be the case and the individuals within the team know that themselves.

“That level of performance can’t and won’t be tolerated. It seems a bit bizarre saying that when we’ve had only two draws in 14 games but the supporters deserve a better level of performance than they got today.

“Montrose had chances as did we and they were good ones. Our finishing has to get better.”
