Artur Boruc was the Southampton hero with an injury time penalty save in the 0-0 draw at Southampton.
The holy goalie has been a fixture in the Saints goal since the turn of the year with yesterday’s point vital as Southampton battle to avoid a rapid return to The Championship.
Grant Holt tumbled in the penalty box under pressure from Luke Shaw but after picking himself up Holt saw Boruch spectacularly save his penalty.
“Boruc made a massive save for us and saved us a point,” Saints boss Mauricioo Pochettino said. “I am happy overall with the team’s performance because we regained our fighting spirit which we lost a bit against QPR.
“Before the penalty was given we deserved to be leading the game, so my anger was double fold, that the penalty should not have happened and also we should have been ahead.”
“The weather did not really favour us for the way we wanted to set-up to play. My team adapted really well to the conditions and also Norwich are a very hard team to play against on their own ground.”
Pochettino confronted referee Mark Clattenburg after the final whistle and immediately apologised afterwards for losing his cool.
He added: “In that moment, you cannot really control your emotions, you are angry, my pulse was really high because I thought it was unfair to us and never a penalty.
“I know I should not have been on the pitch and I apologise, but sometimes you can lose control a little bit. However, I know that us managers must control ourselves – sometimes I feel I am playing the game on the sidelines.”

Goalies can play till they’re 40 easily – I’d take the hand aff yi for the 2 mill we paid for FF. The RC 3rd goal yesterday was a joke – the balls in the air for ages and bounces 10 yards in front of FF’s goal line. He should be claiming EVERYTHING in that box. Bring back the Hholy goalie. FF is a liability man – Rab Douglas the second imo. He can stop shots but after all is that no was he’s paid for – ma 2 yr old son has more brains and u can rest assured there’s more heart ache to come with regards to FF blips!! Sorry, he’s no ma cup of tea! HH

If boruc was in the side we wouldnt have half these clowns swannin about thinking they are made of glass, he wouldnt be long in sorting them out

Boruc at his best was better than what we have seen to date of Forster…but the Boruc that played the last 2 seasons for us want miles away from his best.
Any keeper being called into action frequently during a game as they are at the bottom end of the table will look good. We need a keeper who can hold his concentration for long spells. Boruc had his opportunity, I don’t recall that many dissenting voices when he chose to go as most fans could see his best days were behind him.
I’m sure he will keep on making some decent saves but his defence continue to leak goals.
Cannot believe some fans think FF is a better keeper than Boruc was, or even is- FF still has a long way to go to be an accomplished keeper: has no command of his box, still struggles with crossed balls, kicking still mediocre and his decision making has been poor of late.
Doesn’t help that he has bomb scares like Wilson and Ambrose in front of him right enough- why did Lenny sub Gershon on sat when he did nothing wrong? Yet he keeps on a poor Wilson and a liability in Ambrose. Sometimes I really can’t figure out what Lenny is thinking. Ambrose at right back? Bringing on Rogne (admittedly our best defender) when we need to win the game? Leaving McCourt on the bench when we know what he can do with 20 mins to go? Commons cannot come into a game with 20 mins to go- he needs to play from the start if he’s going to feature at all. Rogic left on bench when Ledley did heehaw. Watt comes on for last ten minutes and he leaves an ineffectual Miku on- instead subbing the usual scapegoat Stokes. Why does Lenny always sub the same players no matter how well they’re playing and always keeps the same diddy’s on no matter how bad they are? The only thing that surprised me was that he didn’t sub Kayal(who was easily our best player) like he normally does.
