Kayal looks to kick on

Beram Kayal is hoping that his performance against Juventus can kick start his season.

The Israeli has had a patchy season struggling to hold onto a regular place in the Celtic midfield due to the form of Victor Wanyama, Scott Brown, Joe Ledley and others.

Kayal was one of Neil Lennon’s first signings and wants to be a big part of Celtic’s future plans.

“It was a special moment for me to start against Juve,” he admitted. I have worked hard to get back after injury and I’m so happy the manager trusts me and gave me this opportunity to play in a match this big.

“The injuries have stopped my career a bit, but I don’t want to look back. I want to concentrate on the future.

“I am strong and hungry again and I want to compete in my career at Celtic and help them win more leagues and cups.

“Every player has to be hungry. You always have to show a big heart for the club in every game and I think we did that against Juve.”

Kayal picked up the number 21 jersey of Andre Pirlo at the final whistle and admits that the legendary midfielder is one of his heroes.

He added: “It was a good moment to get this from such a player. The people at home say I am the Pirlo of Arab football.

“That’s why this jersey will be going up on my wall and will bring inspiration to me for the future.”
