Aberdeen pose title challenge
The young hoops are currently 13 points ahead of Aberdeen and Dundee United and although both sides have two games in hand it’s Celtic who are in the driving seat with 19 points collected from the last 21 available.
Despite that record- and an SFA Youth Cup win over Aberdeen 10 days ago- no-one in the Celtic coaching staff has been satisfied by recent performances.
Aberdeen will be highly motivated for this afternoon’s clash with John Kennedy looking for his side to up their game a level while retaining their winning run..
“We’ve won twice against Aberdeen and are looking to do the same again today- with a good performance on the pitch.
“If we win it’ll open up a bigger gap in the table which is our motivation. The players know that their performances haven’t did themselves justice and that’s something that everyone wants to put right.
“You always have to look forward to the next game and that’s our attitude. We want to put in a polished performance and we have that chance today.
“Aberdeen will be tough opponents, we know that and it’s a game that we’re looking forward to.
“We’ve got a big squad of players with a few coming back from injury which gives us a few options. Marcus Fraser and Stuart Findlay will be missing but we’ve got Eoghan O’Connell and Paddy McNally ready to step in and take their opportunity.”
