Malaga blame Thomson’s mistakes for defeat to Dortmund

|

Craig Thomson Celtic newsMalaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has blamed Craig Thomson for his side’s dramatic Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The Spanish side lost two goals in stoppage time after going 2-1 in front with television evidence showing that both goals should have been disallowed.

Thomson- who is in charge of Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Dundee United on Sunday- was ‘assisted’ by Derek Rose and Alasdair Ross who’ll also be on duty at Hampden.

After losing out to the goals from Marco Reus and then Felipe Santana Pelligrini called on UEFA to investigate Thomson’s below par display.

The Malaga coach said: “It was like there wasn’t a referee on the pitch at the end, it was chaos in the closing stages, there were six or seven things which went unpunished in our area.

“There was a chain of mistakes. Whatever needs to be changed, must be changed.”

Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp added: “Football showed both sides of its face, the bitterly disappointed defeated and the overjoyed winners.

“It’s not often we have needed so much luck, we weren’t so good, but despite that, we won.

“Over the two games I think we are a deserving winner, but if we play like tonight again we won’t win the Champions League.

“Now we have reached our target of a semi-final. It’s crazy. I think I need to see a doctor!

“It feels like we’ve won the trophy. If we play as we did tonight we won’t win the Champions League, but if we play as we really can and have tonight’s passion, then we can do well.”

no surprises there, perhaps if uefa listened to celtic supporters more often this poor standard of sfa ‘star’ would not be on a stage like that. if he cant get scottish games right, how can he be expected to get champions league ones ?

Scott, the problem is he does get them right in Scotland, only if to the set script that is!
He gets the end result he looks for in Scotland, and the one he is told to get.

My heart went out to Malaga. It’s another example of a referree having excessive influence on a result. Mr Pellegrini was correct in his observation that it was chaos at the end. There were a series of errors by Thompson which caused this and affected the result. The evidence on TV is clear and it is interesting now that the continent is picking up on our poor refereeing standards. Dortmund had plenty of possession, but in my opinion, Malaga deserved to win.

Today football showed both of its faces: The cheating, lucky, undeserved winners and the poor, unlucky victims. Malaga should do everything in its power to get the result of this match completely turned around, or at least to get Crag Thomson stripped of his referee status, as the ending of that match was extremely unjust.

Na, Craig Thompson is not to blame… Malaga’s second goal was off-side… and shouldn’t have stood. Funny how the Malaga coach didn’t mention that. They started celebrating before the final whistle and that is why they got punished. Same old bad sportsmanship from another Mediterranean manager. Dortmund are by far the better team anyway… would rather see them in the semis… they play great football, have some brilliant players and deserve to be there.

Thomson shouldnt ref outSide of the Scottish 3rd division, and apparently he is the best in Scotland, well we have huge Dallas and is establishment gang to blame for that then, at the end of the day he was just helping his German HUN brothers out, dont want them TIMMY Spanish getting to the semis do we, just because he’s outside Scotland doesn’t meen he hasn’t got Masonic influence.. hail hail, GOD BLESS THE CELTIC+

  • Andybhoy says:

Thats what happens when you give Hugh Dallas a top job at UEFA. Ordinarily guys like Thomson would be nowhere near Champions League games given the standard off refereeing in Scotland but it’s clearly not what you know but who you know.

  • eastside says:

Do Malaga know that there is an anti Catholic bigot in a position of high authority within UEFA’s Referee department?

  • paranoidandroid says:

What are Malaga complaining about? Thomson doesn’t make mistakes; he makes honest mistakes- just like all of his brothers.

  • Jimbo102 says:

    Only one word, EMBARASSING !!!!!!
    Hail hail

  • Pyewacket1888 says:

I think it proves there is no bias in scottish refereeing. They’re just shite.
