Malaga step up attack on Thomson and UEFA

|

Craig Thomson Celtic newsMalaga have continued their attacks on Craig Thomson and UEFA following their controversial Champions League exit to Burussia Dortmund with club president Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani leading the criticism.

The Spanish side were furious about the two stoppage time goals they lost with television evidence showing that both goals should have been disallowed for offside.

“Yes, we were targeted from the beginning of the season by corrupt UEFA and based on racism,” the Malaga owner said on his twitter account, ANAAL Thani.

Malaga scorer Joaquin Sanchez went further telling Spanish radio: “We suspect Platini and all of them there. Because we are Malaga and not Real Madrid, it’s easier to do this with us.

“We’re very hurt because we didn’t deserve to go out in this way. We saw the footage of the goals after the game. Something like this shouldn’t happen at this stage of the game, but of course, we are Malaga…”

Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini added: “Our players were being elbowed and pushed all over the place. Two of their players should have been given a red card, and there was a double offside for their third goal.

“It was extremely difficult to regain possession under these conditions. We’re all extremely bitter at the outcome.

“There was no refereeing in the last seven minutes. The players were allowed to do whatever they wanted, which made it impossible for us to maintain our lead.”

Dortmund will be joined in tomorrow’s semi-final draw by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich who comfortably beat Juventus home and away.

Thomson will referee Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final with Dundee United on Saturday assisted Derek Rose and Alasdair Ross by who were also on duty in Dortmund.

TOTALY AGREE WITH MALAGA, I FULLY BELIEVE THAT UEFA APPOINT CERTAIN REFEREES THAT ARE POOR STANDARD SO WHEN BLATANT WRONG DECISIONS HAPPEN THERES NO COMEBACK ON UEFA, IT ISN’T FASHIONABLE OR GOOD FOR SPONSORSHIP WHEN TEAMS LIKE MALAGA OR EVEN CELTIC COULD KNOCK 1 OF THE FAVORITES OUT, THE FIRST LEG OF CELTIC V JUVE AT PARKHEAD PROVED THAT, TERRIBLE REFEREEING THAT NITE COST US THE FIRST LEG AND THE WHOLE TIE, IF BARCELONA HAD A CHANCE OF BEING KNOCKED OUT OF CL THE NITE CELTIC BEAT THEM AT PARKHEAD THEN I BELIEVE THE REFEREE WOULD HAV STEPPED IN TO HELP THEM, LAST MINUTE PENALTY OR CELTIC PLAYERS RED CARDED, BARCELONA ARE A FANTASTIC TEAM BUT GET FAR TO MUCH PROTECTION IN EUROPE AND ARE NEVER ON THE WRONG SIDE OF TERRIBLE OR CONTENTIOUS REFEREES, HAIL HAIL, GOD BLESS THE CELTIC+

  • limerick bhoy says:

been saying the same for years no one,s allowed to beat the top eight it,s just not on time things changed hail hail

  • craigbhoy says:

The best team won thou yeh

    • yogI says:

The fact is ,there Is Supposedley a Framework of rules to be adhered to and respected by all taking part,so to say that the best team won is only an opinion and does not address the problem of Skullduggery and cheating going unchecked. We have had it up the Ying Yang more than once because of cheating.

‘The fact is ,there Is Supposedley a Framework of rules to be adhered to and respected by all taking part’

After what we have witnessed over the past two years you surely couldn’t have written that with a straight face mate.

        Hail Hail.

        • yogI says:

Have you ever heard of something being written in a tongue in cheek manner.?Think before you make sarcastic responses.

          • Andybhoy says:

I have but you clearly haven’t Yogi as MY comment was tongue in cheek and was a dig at the football authorities in this country and not you.

            Jeez!

      • craigbhoy says:

Not cheeting just shite scottish refs

    • The silver fhox says:

That’s only your opinion and happens to be the wrong one as well.

    • The silver fhox says:

Incidentally, my last comment ‘that’s only your opinion’ was directed at craigbhoy. I believe that Malaga were far more deserving of going through.

  • Tim Molloy says:

Its as simple as this. UEFA do their utmost to ensure that the teams which will attract the top PAY per VIEW TV audience are enabled to get through to the lucrative final stages. They do this by “fixing” fixtures ( seeding) and they appoint officials who see to it that their wishes come true. I have been saying this ever since the Eduardo ban for blatantly diving for a penalty against Celtic was overturned (disgraceful) not that Arsenal themselves are an elite BIG club but as an English Premiership team they might attract a much bigger TV audience than Celtic, certainly from neutral European viewers. Football has been seized from the working classes who sustained the beautiful game from it’s inception and made it the plaything of the multi-millionaires, the advertisers and the TV barons.

    • OZ CELT says:

Totally agree, changing the rules from champions of every league participate in CL to 4 from the BIG leagues in Europe was a game changer for me,all comes down to money and a select few people who have the power to influence change whithin the game who BTW couldn’t give a rats arse what the average fan thinks

  • AndyBhoy says:

I don’t understand the thought behind the argument, either Dortmund would have had to be in on the fix or the referee would have had to be briefed to favour them by eufa. If its just a bad ref then both teams can cheat equally. I can’t disagree though having seen both games (Celtic v juve and Dortmund v Malaga) that the bigger team seems to get the decisions more often. I remember reading after the juve game that they had scouted the ref, maybe the bigger teams being more experienced in Europe has led them to go beyond traditional tactics. I always blame the linesman more for offside goals too cos the ref shouldn’t really be in a position where he can judge the line. The linesman should be. Definitely didn’t have this opinion immediately after the juve game tho so I can understand Malaga’s frustration.

  • paranoidandroid says:

Still he can’t be any worse on Saturday, surely… Surely?… Maybe?… Or can he?

  • Belfast Mac says:

Dortmund’s last goal was offside but so was Malaga’s 2nd? Just very poor refereeing in my book as Mr Thompson shows week in week out in the SPL!

    • OZ CELT says:

Maybe poor refereeing in CL but I don’t think the same could be said about his performances in spl, where it seems he saves his worst for us,also never seen him make an honest mistake that went against the huns, cheating bassa IMO

  • OZ CELT says:

It amazes me how much we have actually won regarding titles etc considering what’s against us

Mon the hoops give us the double!

    • yogI says:

OZ, Willie Syme Was well known for his hatred of all things Celtic and anything related to us in any shape or form.It was no surprise when his son David emerged and carried on the family hobby of sticking it to us,but Both of them got Big Jock on a bad day and he said to David Syme after an even worse refereeing performance that ,Youre Father Would Have been very proud of you today. The sfa done everything they could to hit the Big Fella with a ban,But on what grounds stein asked. He worded perfectly and he was much too cute for them. After all these years they are still after us.

      • OZ CELT says:

Yes that’s all true and they always will be against us as they represent the establishment that we cherish dissenting against

Heard this somewhere ( Authority is to be tolerated seldom respected ) sounds alright to me

  • MBB CSC says:

I was having the same discussion with a few other friends who exclusively watch the EPL and the UCL thanks to Fox Soccer here in Myrtle Beach.

When the Malaga match came up, they couldn’t believe that we see these same six people every week! The amount if incompetence is astonishing.

But whats more astonishing is the apparent fact the UEFA was able to find six referees from Scotland with FIFA credentials.

    • OZ CELT says:

If it was a case of just poor refereeing then it surely would even out over a season, the huns 3iar were littered with ‘mistakes ‘ that cost us just 1 e.g. Bougherra committing 5 fouls whilst on a yellow in OF game at mordor and not receiving the 2nd yellow followed by red,at least 2 of the fouls were tackles from behind normally straight yellow on their own

Watched a lot of football from late 80s till now and have never seen anything remotely comparable, incompetent or cheating hmmmm tough one

    • yogI says:

How did they find six referees is what puzzles me.

  • Thomas Haverstock says:

It has been like that in Scotland for every and every boys in black stinging it to Celtic at every game .So what new Look who is in charge fife
