Neil Lennon is preparing for the next phase in re-shaping Celtic.

Two short years ago as the EBT All-stars denied Lennon the title in his first year in charge the Irishman told the Celtic support- this isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning.

That approach saw Lennon through numerous personal challenges that no other football manager has had to endure as well as on-field challenges such as turning around a 3-0 half-time deficit at Kilmarnock and clawing back a 15 point deficit against all odds.

Today’s title presentation takes place against a background of speculation linking the Celtic boss with a move to Everton, in tandem with half a dozen other managers.

Lennon knows the way the football business operates, while naturally pleased to be linked with a Premiership club his focus remains on developing the Celtic squad further and progressing in the Champions League.

There’s nothing in it at the minute,” the Celtic boss said responding to the Goodison speculation. “If there is I have not been approached or there’s not been any conversation with the club or my representatives.

“It’s flattering, though. Everton’s a big club, a great club. But I’ve got a job to do here.

“There’s still plenty to do. I have learned a lot this year. I have learned a lot about the game, particularly the European games. I have learned a lot about my squad and individuals. We have not spent a great deal. We sold Ki and signed Forster and Ambrose for money. So we’d like to improve on that next year.

“I want to improve the squad, for definite, to kick us on again.”
