Lennon waits on three injured stars

Neil Lennon will wait till Thursday before finalising his side for the Scottish Cup Final against Hibs.

Charlie Mulgrew, Adam Matthews and James Forrest all missed the 4-0 win over Dundee United today but are in Lennon’s cup final plans.

Skipper Scott Brown came through the 90 minutes unscathed easing the headache caused by suspensions to Victor Wanyama and Beram Kayal for the Hampden clash.

“We will know by next Thursday if they are fit and if they are they will come into the squad,” Lennon admitted.

“Adam is the real problem because he hasn’t played since Juventus so he is a major concern. He has been training but he picked up a little injury again on Friday and we will have to wait and see.”

Celtic raced into a 3-0 lead after half an hour before Anthony Stokes completed the scoring five minutes from the end.

After picking up just one point from the visits to Motherwell and Ross County while some regulars were given a week’s holiday Celtic have returned to form with back-to-back wins over St Johnstone and Dundee United.

The Hampden clash with Hibs gives the club the chance to pick up their first double since 2007 with Lennon relishing the opportunity to pick up more silverware.

“The cup final is all on the day,” the Celtic boss added. “But we will prepare as best we can, we will prepare like it was a Champions League game.

“We will train intensely, even though it is the last game of the season there will be no switching off.

“We will do a lot of analysis with the players and obviously we will have a look at some of our recent games at Hampden to see how we can improve on things. We will cover all the bases.”
