Regan’s sympathy for Ibrox fans

Charles GreenStewart Regan has sent his sympathies to The Rangers supporters as their new club lurches from crisis to crisis.

The tangled ownership web between Charles Green, Craig Whyte, Sevco Scotland and Sevco 5088 is starting to unravel putting at risk the associate membership of the Third Division winners.

Regan was involved in the secretive five way agreement that awarded associate membership to Green’s consortium which should have resolved all issues.

Key to the agreement was the non-involvement of Craig Whyte but recent recordings and interviews suggest that the former billionaire from Motherwell was heavily involved in the deal to bring Green to the table.

“All the uncertainty and kind of turmoil that is going on at the club is a cause of concern,” the SFA chief stated. “You have to feel for the fans, given what they’ve had to endure for the last 18 months or so.

“They thought they had a new dawn with Messrs Green and Ahmad coming in and it has turned sour on them again.

“We’re all hoping the board can get it sorted out and get them back on an even keel again.”

The Rangers have ordered an investigation into the links between Green and Whyte which question the ownership and assets of the club.

Those issues would normally be the responsibility of the directors who have asked Pinsent Masons to look into Whyte’s claims.

If Whyte does have a case the legitimacy of December’s share issue and the SFA license would be open to question with Regan claiming that the SFA are taking a hard line on the issue.

“There are some very specific questions we have asked that require some very specific answers,” he added. “If we don’t get those answers, we reserve the right to further investigation.

“The nature of the questions we have asked relate to the links between Green, Ahmad and Whyte, the details surrounding money lodged in Ahmad’s mother’s bank account and various conversations that allegedly took place.

“We should get some specific answers on those. We have seen the scope of the Pinsent Masons report, it is very detailed and thorough. We expect to see quite a lot of detail when it comes back.”

Coming close to admitting that the matter was too complex for the SFA to deal with Regan added: “It’s been really tough. It does take a lot out of you because you’re not taking about problems you can make a simple decision on.

“We’ve had hours of meetings, we’ve had reports and investigations and legal challenges. You’ve got to be really sharp and able to absorb hugely complex issues. And you just get your head around one of them when another one hits you and you’re into something else.

I can’t believe after 12 months we are still talking about Rangers, the machinations in the boardroom and what may or may not have been the case.

To be fair to the club, I think men like Ally McCoist and Walter Smith also thought we would have moved on.”

Had the SFA did their job properly with Green’s application the issue would have been clear cut. With the five way agreement remaining a closely guarded secret the issue looks certain to dominate the headlines through the summer.

Who cares, the SFA will accomodate them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they funded them!

    • Stevie says:

Agree Thomas they’ll walk away innocent blaming everyone else thinking they’ve been punished enough.
Corruption and the SFA go hand in hand.

When will this shambles end the sfa are to blame by allowing this new club to carry on as if the old club never died they the sfa broke every rule in their own made up book to keep a team 1 team namely sevco alive every fan of other clubs should get together and make sure these clown’s at the SFA can’t just look after one team but all ofscotland’s team’s

  • paul McCann says:

there is no chance of there licence being revoked there is more chance of a catholic becoming prime minister than there is of the sfa doing anything about them

This seems like another one of those “It wasn’t my fault” statements.

But it seems to have slipped Mr Regan’s memory that while he and Dracula Ogilvie should have been in the front seat taking charge of investigating Whyte, Green, and Ahmad’s suitability to run any Scottish football club, they were quietly hiding in the backseat, no doubt on the suggestion of their brothers in the lodge, giving free rein at Ibrox to our heroes.

Unfortunately for Regan, The Count, and their brothers, Whyte, green, and Ahmad used this free rein to quietly steal anything that wasn’t nailed down.

Basically, Mr Regan, you and your cronies are so stupid and incompetent that you can’t even cheat properly. It was your fault. You were negligent and you failed to do the job you’re very well paid to do.

  • Andy says:

This is what happens Mr Regan when the rules are not applied. None of you are fit for purpose.

  • Denzel says:

I don’t care if they bend a couple of rules to keep them a club. I might be a minority on this matter but I think we need to keep rangers in scottish football. Our league is a laughing stock in the media and if getting rangers back in the SPL in the next 3-10 years, makes it more interesting then I’m all for it. I understand people are mad that this shambles of a team newco were allowed to keep their tittles but its done and there’s nothing we can do about it. Obviously the SFA think its for the greater good of scottish football to keep them around. The way I see it, bring em back, we’ll ratlle them about the shot plus have more reasons to slaughter them due to them not actually being the club they claim to be.

Football should never, ever even consider going the same way as American Wrestling. It is a sport, a competition, it is not a theatrical performance.

  • buffythecat says:

Totally disagree Denzel. Scottish football is better for their absence and the air is much fresher now that the toxic brand has died!

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

“There are some very specific questions we have asked that require some very specific answers,” he added. “If we don’t get those answers, we reserve the right to further investigation.”

And there in lies the depth of the SFAs entire investigation into sevco!

  • eastside says:

It would be interesting to know just how many death threats Regan has received from the Sevconians over the past 18 months. Poor bloke has to pander to the hordes
