Ally McCoist has revealed that Sevco are looking to get rid of Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra.

Despite agreeing to TUPE their contracts over from the liquidated Rangers, Goian and Bocanegra were sent out on loan last season to lower division clubs in Italy and Spain.

The defensive duo both have a season left on their Ibrox deals but with cash tight McCoist hardly needs to be shelling out over £30,000 per week for two ageing defenders.

Most clubs like to be guarded about their transfer wishes but having signed up half a dozen new players McCoist knows that he must balance the books before he can move back into the transfer market.

“I know that Andrew Dickson and Craig Mather are in discussion with the agents of Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra and hopefully we will have news on that in the next few days,” the Ibrox boss told the club website.

“I would imagine there would be activity between now and the start of the season in terms of players departing whether on loan or permanently because that is the way of things at any football club.”

Goian’s agent has claimed that there is interest in the defender from Championship clubs while Bocanegra is wanted by some clubs in the MLS in North America.

Getting a transfer fee for either player is unlikely as they are both in the final year of contract while their salary levels are unlikely to be matched elsewhere.

The Rangers International, as Sevco are currently known, have yet to publish audited accounts with the only figures to far revealed showing a £7m loss in their first six months of trading.

McCoist was promised a £10m transfer warchest from former chief executive Charles Green but that is highly unlikely after Green walked away from his role in November.

Goian and Bocanegra are unlikely to be the only departures with Lee Wallace likely to quit the club with Steven Smith in place as first choice left-back and moves underway to sign up Ricky Forster from Bristol City.

And that includes ‘any football club’ currently operating under an sfa tranfer embargo?

    Does it?

I’m surprised any ‘journalist’ would be able to actually report what sleekit is saying here.
