Ally McCoist Rangers newsChris Humphrey’s is set to reject an offer from Sevco to join League One outfit Preston North End.

The Jamaican was one of Ally McCoist’s top summer targets but has snubbed the opportunity to move to Ibrox in favour of Preston.

Humphrey’s started 32 of Motherwell’s SPL matches last season as the Fir Park side finished second in the SPL.

Despite seeing team-mate Nicky Law move to Ibrox Humphrey’s has decided to move south and is expected to sign a three year deal for Preston today.

While the Ibrox side have missed out on Humphrey’s they have announced the signing of Arnold Peralta on a four year deal.

Peralta will require a work permit to play in Scotland which will require the backing of the Scottish football authorities.

One of the key criteria for issuing a work permit is if the applicant is of a quality not currently available to the club.

With Sevco playing in the third tier of Scottish football it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a player of equal quality with most First Division and SPL midfielders falling into that category.

Providing the Honduran with a work permit would escalate another issue with SFL clubs only allowed to register 22 players over the age of 21.

The recent spending spree that has brought in Cammy Bell, Nicky Clark, Jon Daly and Law alongwith the return of Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra means that McCoist will have 26 players over the age of 21.

At the weekend Steve Lovell of the SPFA warned members against playing as trialists before the registration ban is lifted on September 1.

    I just don’t get it.
How can Rangers announce new signings through the MSM, when they are currently banned from signing anyone?
The MSM are talking about these signings as if they’ll be playing at the start of the season, is it to keep the Rangers fans pacified; in the knowledge that season books are up for sale ie, give them a reason to part with their cash?
In the meantime the MSM are trying to sell half of the Celtic 1st team!

I think you have misunderstood the rules on permits for foreign players and the number of over 21s the club can register. Like signing bans those rules do not apply to the third division champions. Nor do the rules on providing audited accounts, however a thorough self examination will suffice for the SFA.

They obviously think the rules of arithmetic don’t apply to them either. Is there anyone at Ibrokes that can even spell accountant?

“We’re losing money hand over fist. What should we do?”

“I know let’s buy a load more players we can’t afford to pay”.

      “Brilliant!”

Why do we even bother?! There seems to no end to the blatant bare faced cheek of that lot. Yet again the SFA sit back and enjoy the warmth of the sun as it shines from Sevco’s arse

Let them spend spend spend, no credit at bank only thing that will keep them going the next couple of years will be season tickets, don’t think they will be a force to reckon with for many a season yet 🙂

What a cheek signing all these players on big salaries, whilst still owing money to face painters, florists and many many more businesses
