Twitter newsNeil Lennon was thrilled by Andy Murray’s semi-final win over Jerzy Janowicz at Wimbledon yesterday.

Taking a break from Celtic’s pre-season preparations in Munich the hoops boss tuned in to the epic clash from Wimbledon which the Scot won 3-1 after losing the first set.

After falling 4-1 down in the third set Murray rattled off five straight games to take control of the match before returning under the roof to take the fourth set and clinch a place in the final against Novac Djokovic.

After the match finished Lennon tweeted: “We should all enjoy these Andy Murray years..what talent and drive under extraordinary pressure..he is a gem.”

Earlier the Celtic boss tweeted: “Come on Andy…watching the tennis with German commentary just ain’t the same.

On the roof decision he added: “Ludicrous decision when all the momentum was with Andy..now his opponent can gather himself again.”

Three years into the job Lennon is relaxed and enjoying himself as he showed while appearing on BBC’s Question of Sport programme during the week.

Since taking charge of Celtic and overhauling the squad Lennon has placed a big emphasis on team bonding with new arrivals introducing themselves in song to their new team-mates.

Virgil Van Dijk and Amido Balde were under the spotlight this week with both players earning the praise of their manager and peers.

On Friday Lennon tweeted: “Morning all..with Victor and Emilio arriving last night the full squad is all back together..the new lads all sang a song for initiation lol

“Virgil rapped..Amido sang a native song. Two young boys did oasis.and Hugh the kit man was Dean Martin til Charlie pulled his shorts down.”

Andy Murray is no relation to former Rangers owner Davie, former director Paul, former chief scout Neil or current Sevco director Malky.

The nation holds its breath. Will Andy Murray, the only Scotsman with his own tennis bat, finally win Wimbledon?

    I certainly hope so.

  • KEIGHLEY BHOY says:

Strange how most of the English people i know all want Murray to lose, and the rest just hate him, they just cant handle a Scotsman being the best tennis player that Britain has ever produced, the quintessential establishment English sport of tennis being totally and utterly dominated by a scot, and a hibs fan aswel, BRILLIANT.. CMON MURRAY!!
    hail Hail

Have to argue that one KEIGHLEY. I live in England and I am actually fed up with their hootin’ ‘n a hollerin’ for the lad. They are giving him extraordinary support. I am a little more circumspect myself as I see him as somewhat Henmanesk. Mind you, the English do tend to regard him as “BRITISH” rather than Scottish, at least till he loses. I regard him as Scottish and therefore most likely TO LOSE. Winning does not sit well with us. It stops us having a good greet.

It has been said there is a hint of cynicism in my blood. Why?

I meant to add – well done and good luck, Andy. And they say I am a cynic 🙂

Got a wee bet on the Scottish connection this weekend. Lions to win test and they did (Richie Grey on the park), Paul Di Resta to win Grand Prix and Andy to win Wimbledon. If the last two come up I’ll be posting in future from the Bahamas. Hail hail

Paul Di Resta – good celtic man tho!!
