Online readers were shocked this morning to see pictures of Neil Lennon and Celtic fans used to illustrate the story alongside quotes from Ally McCoist.
Whoever it was at The Scottish Sun that picked those pictures to go alongside the story is likely to have a lot of explaining to do with the pictures quickly removed as anger spread on social networks.
The fire at Bruce Coaches appears to have been a well orchestrated arson attempt with firefighters called from all over Lanarkshire to deal with the blaze.
Recently Bruce Coaches got one of their vehicles kitted out in Rangers colours for the Third Division champions to use for away trips. The vehicle was also available for hire to the general public.
That coach was one of four totally destroyed by the blaze prompting Ibrox boss McCoist to ask: “It’s absolutely pathetic that someone would go to that extreme. I don’t know the exact circumstances but it looks like it’s been a premeditated attack on the Rangers team bus.
“There’s absolutely no excuse for that and I hope the police find the culprits.”
How McCoist is able to speculate on the reasons for an industrial fire in Salsburgh while he is on tour with his club is anyone’s guess just like the decision to link pictures of Lennon and Celtic fans to the story.
While the incident is unlikely to have the effect of the Daily Record’s infamous ‘Thugs and Thieves’ story about Celtic players in 2002 it’s bound to lead to an inquiry within News International.
The Scottish Sun used to have the best record in the business when it came to editing but last Sunday a picture of Bahrudin Atajic was used alongside an interview with Beram Kayal.
This week’s honest mistake is likely to have far deeper consequences than mistaken identity on a picture desk.
Shower of horrible hun bastards, nothing ever changes especially them c**ts, lets get something on timmy…
Looks like the easdale bros werent happy with sevco using another bus firm…
This seems the most logical thought process to me too. Since there was no way they could sell it and get their money back, insurance is always a way out isn’t it?
who ever buys red banner news rags is ethier half a hoop or fully orc.
stop giving them a salary.HH
Spot on
Any idea who could be responsible ?
A disgruntled creditor maybe.
Maybe the chef has left something cooking on the hotplates, then was too engrossed watching the dvd of the historical SFL div 3 victory on the plasma tv’s!..or just the latest in the ongoing fire – sale! H×2
Nothing surprises me with this rag anti Celtic always will be, I also noticed the orcs are calling it a sectarian attack haha a sectarian attack on a bus with another saying how would we like it if they burnt down a chapel haha how you connect a bus and a chapel is beyond me but that’s the orcs for you HH
The Sun is a scum paper. These seeds are planted intentionally. With the ever increasing demise of the desire for actual newspapers, these so called “journalists” are desparate and with the country being as bigoted as it is, they get away with it.
Maybe it’s time to take these people to court, through the system, rather than accepting their fake apologies. The damage has been done, the sideways accusations clearly spelled out, so now they think they can get away with an “oops”!
The paper which has come to the foreground as toilet tissue replacement, is wobbling. It’s time to land the final blow.
dont buy they rags buy the beano
Good to see neither McCoist or the Scottish press for that matter jumping to conclusions before a full investigation has been completed…..oh no wait a minute he/they already have!
Columbo, sorry McCoist has already concluded that it was a pathetic premeditated attack. His detective skills are all the more impressive when you consider he managed to reach that conclusion all the way from Germany, the guy is so good he doesn’t need evidence or even have to be in the same country to carry out his detective work.
McCoist is wasted at The R*ngers, he should put his skills to good use by rounding up Watty and some of their Scottish journo friends and travel the country like Scooby Doo and the gang solving mysteries, they could even invite wee Nacho Novo along on occasion as their version of Scrappy Doo…..if only they had some sort of transport. Maybe they could use the insurance money and get themselves their very own Mystery Machine.
Hail Hail.
Best can o petrol they ever bought !!……….probably the last !…….well the COST o the stuff !!!
the sun is from the same group as the deceased news of the world supporting sevco is it asking to much for them to go into a corner and quietly die
Do not just ask questions of the Sun the Sunday Mail ran the story with Celtic pictures across the bottom of the page.
As for McCoist when are the authorities going to tell him to engage his brain before he opens his mouth?
Press compaints commision for he sn methinks…they break the first rule…I’d call inserting non relevent pictures is misleading
1 Accuracy
i) The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information, including pictures.
ii) A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion once recognised must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and – where appropriate – an apology published. In cases involving the Commission, prominence should be agreed with the PCC in advance.
iii) The Press, whilst free to be partisan, must distinguish clearly between comment, conjecture and fact.
iv) A publication must report fairly and accurately the outcome of an action for defamation to which it has been a party, unless an agreed settlement states otherwise, or an agreed statement is published.
Amen brother, I wonder when the apology will come then
Burning buses??? Sounds familiar…. like the way a large Greenock based company took over smaller rivals…… #ismellarat
Was the registration plate a portent? RI WTP…Right In With The Petrol! H×2
R1 WTP – Really?!, Ignited Wheels Turn Poorly?
Shoddy but anyone else? lol
The bus was a chartered bus which the compvany decked out in sevco livery as a way to get some publicity for the company.
Sevco did not own this bus.
About two weeks before this incedent an ownejr of a bus company claimed that he had ONE HUNDERED GRAND stolen, in cash, in Inchinnan, that person is now on the board at the hunnery .
So, to recap, an alleged gangster buys enough shares in the benifit cheats to get a place on the board, who owns a bus company that is other than the bus company that rents sevco a bus and a week after he buys a place on the board, the hun bus goes up in flames, but yet Celtic supporters are the main suspect!!
Obviously, you can make it up.
HH
Can you say “insurance scam for a team on its knees”?
