Lennon keen to hang onto Celtic kids

Neil Lennon has been delighted by the way three youngsters have taken to life with the Celtic first team.

Liam Henderson has made a big impact in midfield in the two games played so far in Germany while in defence Calum Waters and Darnel Fisher haven’t let anyone down.

All three players were mainly taken to Germany for experience but it seems that they could be in for an extended stint of top team duty.

“Being here should give them a lift,” Lennon explained. “They are keen to impress. If you look at young Henderson, he did really well in the two games, and now I might keep him around for the duration of the trip.

“Darnel Fisher did well too, Waters has impressed and I would like to give Atajic Bahrudin some game time. I’ve been really pleased with the input from the youngsters. Henderson is only 17 and he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands. he has done really well.

“Liam has been a real stand-out at under-16 and under-17 level.

“His basics are very good, he is very elegant with the ball and he has got a good engine. He has trained with us a few times and he’s always held his own.

“He is young and has a bit of growing to do. but I see a growth spurt in him and he has benefited from that.”

Celtic continue their build up to the new season against Greuther Furth tonight before completing their four match tour on Friday night against Union Berlin.
