James Traynor RangersThe SPFL are facing a broadcasting dispute  when the BBC attempt to cover today’s Sevco v Brechin City match.

In the final game of last season the Third Division champions banned the state broadcaster from covering the match with that situation unresolved.

The BBC has a contract with the SPFL to provide live radio commentary but can expect to find access denied when they appear at Ibrox.

Responding to questions about the BBC at a supporters Q and A on Thursday night Jim Traynor stated: “The leaks are scandalous, it’s not right. The BBC are banned. They are supposed to be here on Saturday.

“They have paid to be here but they won’t be getting in. They can complain to the SPFL and it’ll be up to them if they want to sanction the club but hopefully it won’t come to that.”

Discussing his own salary Traynor added: “My salary is the same as my previous two jobs. No more, no less. My job isn’t just about PR. I’m involved in restructuring RangersTV, restructuring other platforms and bringing in Wifi to the stadium. Unfortunately these have been sidelined due to the need for ‘crisis PR’.”

After throwing the BBC out of Ibrox in May a club statement read: “RANGERS Football Club can confirm the BBC is no longer welcome at Ibrox Stadium or Murray Park.

“The club asked BBC journalists to leave the stadium ahead of today’s Division Three title party against Berwick Rangers.

“Rangers Director of Communications James Traynor said: “We are aware of our contractual obligations but we also have to be aware of our duty to protect the players, manager and supporters against reporting which lacks logic, balance and fairness.”

UPDATE: It seems that Traynor has backed down with Rob McLean providing Radio Scotland with live updates from Ibrox.
