Walter Smith Rangers newsWalter Smith is caught in the middle of a civil war at Sevco.

The former Rangers and Scotland manager faces his toughest challenge as chairman as he attempts to deal with a shareholder rebellion that wants to see Craig Mather, Brian Stockbridge and Billy Smart removed from the board.

Former Blue Knight Paul Murray is among the group calling for the removal of the Sevco trio and is seen as an old school traditional supporter.

Smith and Murray go back a long way but the call for an EGM  and the removal of Mather puts the non-executive chairman in the middle of the warring factions.

After Mather was appointed as chief executive Smith said: “Throughout his time at the club, Craig has demonstrated a deep commitment to the club and has a clear vision of how Rangers should be taken forward.

“He has made an extremely valuable contribution to the club as interim chief executive officer and thoroughly deserves the opportunity to lead Rangers as CEO.

“The board wish him every success as we all strive to take Rangers back to the pinnacle of Scottish football.”

The call for an EGM to remove the Sevco trio came shortly after the return of Charles Green was announced on a lucrative new consultancy role.

Despite the storm clouds Ally McCoist is hopeful of adding to the clubs growing wage bill. He said: Like most managers and coaches, I’m still extremely keen to strengthen the squad where I can and I still think we could do with another forward. We’re very light there.

“We’ve only got Jon Daly, Nicky Clark and Andy Little and that’s it really. I know Lee McCulloch played up there last year but I thought he did very well at the back last week.”

Pure comedy gold. The story that just keeps giving.

I Was listening to an educated Bear on the phone in earlier who came across very knowledgeable & convincing of what is going on inside Ibrox at present, seems the boxing gloves are back on once again.

With big ands Charles back on the scene, I look forward to see how our MSM hamdle the Racist outspoken Yorkshire man.

Previously they gave him a platform to spread his propaganda, but now with what appears to be the blue knights back on the scene and a dilemma for both Cardigan & Sally ‘To be Honest with you’ McCoist in what side to take, this should be fun.

The first day of the new season & the focus is back on them again, this negative impact on Scottish football has the whole of Scottish football fed up with it all now. Time the Sfa grew a pair and intervened publicly because this aint doing Scottish football no favours, regarding attracting sponsors etc..

Swally is simply doing what Watty Myth did some years ago…we knew they were skint yet they went out and spent circa £50m – in the full knowledge they wouldn’t be paying it back.

Now Swally is buying in players they can’t afford, topping up the squad with top flight players to ensure they build a big enough lead to overcome even a 25 point deduction if / when administration hits them.

Going to funny as hell if they do fail to get promoted though.

Chico returns – another spiv to fill his pockets…Charlotte must be really getting to them as they scramble to get their money out pronto.

I see that Sevco, in their second year almost pulled off a Giant killing win today.
The took the mighty Forfar Athletic to extra time but succumbed to the experience and power of the bigger club with so many more years behind them. Nice try Sevco. Keep your chins up. One day you may manage to beat a giant.
    Hail Hail
