Charles Green has returned to Ibrox in a newly created consultancy role.
The man who admitted to shafting Craig Whyte before stepping down as chief executive after using racist language has returned to the club shortly after the removal of Malcolm Murray as chairman and director.
Green made a number of incredible claims during his time as chief executive but delivered on little before walking out having previously claimed that he’s be staying on until he heard the Champions League anthem over Ibrox.
A brief statement on the club website read: “The Board of Rangers is pleased to announce that it has today appointed Charles Green as a consultant to the Company.
“Mr Green’s role will be to promote the interests of Rangers Football Club, specifically assisting with shareholder relations and advising the Company on its capital structure.”
Green left Ibrox shortly after details of his deal with Whyte emerged which transferred the club assets from Sevco 5088 to Sevco Scotland without the knowledge of the former billionaire from Motherwell.
An internal Ibrox enquiry subsequently found there to be no link between Whyte and the new club with the SFA happy to accept the clubs’ word at face value.
Tellingly the club statement carried no welcome from chairman Walter Smith who also avoided comment on the appointment of James Easdale as a non-executive director.

Green as a consultant does go a long way to explaining Mather’s recent babbling right enough! It did sound suspiciously like something Chuckles would say.
Maybe it’s just me but does the above picture of Green bear an uncanny resemblance to Bugs Bunny or what? When the tribute act gets liquidated like the original club they could just belt out the Looney Tunes anthem over the Ibrox tannoy and Green could exclaim ”Thats all folks!” It would be a fitting end to what has been the funniest period in Scottish football history.
