Walter Smith has sensationally walked away from the chairmanship of Sevco.
After just over two months in the hot seat vacated by Malcolm Murray Smith has walked away leaving Ally McCoist increasingly isolated and vulnerable.
Following a day of intense speculation Smith walked out on the Third Division champions intensifying the civil war raging within the club.
A brief statement issued by the club said: “Rangers announces that Walter Smith has today resigned from his position as Chairman and a director of the Company with immediate effect.”
The departure of Smith comes at the end of an incredible 72 hour period that started with the return of Charles Green, a request for an EGM for the removal of three directors, getting pumped out of the League Cup by Forfar and an astonishing verbal attack on Green by McCoist.
Smith served as chairman for two months during which it is believed that the club sold 34,000 season tickets with Renfrewshire transport tycoon joining the board as a non-executive director.
There was no welcome statement from Smith for Easdale.
Announcing Smith’s appointment as chairman a stock market statement read: “The Rangers International Football Club plc today announced that Walter Smith has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Board. Walter Smith is widely acknowledged as the Club’s most successful manager. Under his leadership, the Club enjoyed two immensely productive spells and he is one of the most highly regarded figures in British football.
“He succeeds Malcolm Murray, who agreed to step down as chairman, and Walter Smith’s appointment was a unanimous decision of the Board.
“The Board believes that the new chairman will bring stability, experience and a wealth of knowledge to the Club.”
Smith’s appointment was hailed as a masterstroke to bring the club together but has failed miserably as the events of the weekend demonstrated.
With Smith walking away Green is expected to step in as chairman placing McCoist under greater pressure with the strained relationship between the two coming out into the open on Saturday when McCoist branded Green a disgrace and embarrassment.
“we don’t do walking away……” i think you do. Can see Sally getting his jotters and then Sevco will make a move for either McCall or Butcher to keep the salivating Orcs at bay.
Pass me another bowl please…:)
Open message to all benefit cheats fc supporters;
Ooooooo, look at the shiny shiny!
AFPMSL!
HA il ! HA il !
Poor old Walter just keep on walking don’t look back Just fly of to the south of France to be with you pal And leave green and white to cut up the pig stay into the new Tescos All the best to you and your Hail Hail
Still love the rangers no matter what you lot don’t have a clue N S
N S ? Nice Sand ? ostrich.
And you know exactly what is going on at Sevco 2012 do you?
If you want to love a dead football team fair enough but you do know necrophilia is entirely illegal don’t you?
I give fat Sally until the end of the week.
What they would give for a man like Fergus McCann??
A supporter but a business man who has made us what we are today. On a sound and stable footing, going from strength to strength. Even when we have a blip
( Tony Mowbery) we don’t push the panic button and run the club accordingly..
Unlike at the Bronx where the vultures have circled, landed, fattened their bellies, flew away and comeback to rape the carcass!!!
at the end of the day cardie was only there so the goons would buy season tickets he for one has no remorse for this as he counts money out of a brown envelope, just this week souness is getting investigated, how many fat envelopes he’s received good job sally can be bought with pies
Does the SFA sit on their ar##, and let this joke of a club carry on? Scottish Football is trying to recover from the cheating and deception of old Rangers ,who were allowed under a new name to re enter Scottish Football, this new club have not even submitted their yearly accounts, like every other club and seem to be treating the Hierarchy with contempt, just like the Old Club Did! These Ogilvie Presided Buffoons should resign, and hopefully be replaced by HONEST and Decent Men! but that would be a FIRST,in Scottish Football!
What a glorious 48 hours! Smith has no shame – he knew his name would sell more season tickets to the loyal knuckledraggers for short term profit of the latest board. Yet he still went along with it for his pieces of silver. And yet his reputation will remain intact with the WATP hoards who remain blinkered to all of the super-rich businessmen lining up to take their turn at ripping them off. And if anyone ever points out the truth then they are just being jealous/obsessed/bigoted/sectarian(?)! It just keeps getting funnier by the day. Of course, they know that Ogilvie and Doncaster will do everything possible to bail them out again if the much anticipated blockbuster “Liquidation II – The Sequel” hits our screens.
BB,
I hate to be pedantic and sound like a smart-ass w*nker but you do know it is technically impossible for such a thing as ‘Liquidation 2’ to possibly arise?
Although loony buns can’t get their head around the concept liquidation (only required once) IS the be all and end all.
Drip, drip, drip, drip………Gush. It’s comming, meltdown, implosion then the Govan TESCO will arise from the ashes.
The ex question of sport skipper me thinks is going to get his old job back very shortly.
Hail hail
This guy was not a Chairman. A real chairman would not act in such a fashion and would stay to help the club be directed. He has an agenda, but certainly will not be sharing it with others. Smiddy is just like the rest of them over Govan way.
The dummy is being thrown out of the pram here and Mr Dignity lost the plot a long time ago. He couldn’t care less about the Sevco punters and neither does Sally. The pair of them have collected fortunes to make them very rich men. Dignity – my arse!
I certainly would like to see Sally staying, however, as he pockets a packet for being totally incompetent.
Get ready for the laptop loyal to try and deflect the attention away from the bigotdome at our expense , of course. They can’t hid the fact that the vultures are circling, its like a seen from an old western movie
Saw the pieman on tv, jez he looks like old Gabby Hayes, giving my age away.
Taxi for Sally
“We don’t do walking away” Aye right Watty!!!
Administration 2, before Christmas! Happy days!!
Remember the Cardigone does not do ‘walking away’ he has more ‘dignity’.
Taxi for wattie!!!
Let’s recap, Green was never ‘away’ that’s plain to see, except to the most gullible and deluded, and while he was hiding behind the green curtain smith stepped in as Chairman, much to the joy of the said gullible and deluded.
Before green didn’t go ‘away’ the huns were having a wee prob selling season tickets and needed to pay someone enough money to whore himself and reputation to distract said gullible and deluded ( Ooooo, look at the shiny shiny!) enough that they would then by topped up with enough gullibility and delusion to spend their fyears family allowance on a season ticket.
Job done, enough season tickets sold to assure green that not many more would be sold.
Green decides he’s had enough of not being away and comes back from wherever it was that he wasn’t, smith shows his kiddy onny shock and horror to the said gullible and deluded and the benefit cheats have deluded the gullible out of enough taxpayers money (family allowance and giros) to start a new season and wattie doesn’t have to worry about his retirement fund.
The big question is, are there truly peepo on Gods good green earth gullible and deluded enog to believe that green had actually ‘gone away’ never to return, and moreso, believe, now that he’s back from not going away, that wattie, the ranjurz man that would have watched HIS club die (which they did anyway) before putting a single penny of his own money up to save them (or ‘the shiny shiny’), never knew that green had not gone away and would infact be making his return from nowhere the minute the gullible and deluded had parted with their myriad of benefit money?
Walter smith is neither gullible or deluded.
Ps. There where about 50 of the gullible and deluded outside the hunnery to watch the shiny shiny depart and protest at their beloved bares being sliced and diced by the ‘businessmen’ on their board.

Was bomber there too?
Naaaaaaaw!
The mad bomber’s a crowd puller.
Ffs, if there were the slightest chance the bold bomber was gonna put on a show I would seriously consider putting in an
appearance myself!
He would pull a bigger crowd than St JP II at the Bella park!
It would be a great I was there moment, but saddly I hear he’s got a gig at one of the comedy shows at the Fringe.
