Bahrudin Atajic Celtic newsCeltic moved into joint top spot in the u-20 table thanks to a 2-1 win away to Ross County tonight.

Second half strikes from Bahrudin Atajic and substitute Joe Thomson gave the hoops full points while Hamilton Accies drew 1-1 at home to Partick Thistle with Hibs losing 3-2 at home to Inverness Caley Thistle.

Tonight’s results leave Celtic, Hamilton and Inverness Caley Thistle sitting on 17 points in top place with the young hoops having a game in hand.

After a goal-less first half Celtic made the breakthrough in the 69th minute through Atajic with Thomson doubling the advantage nine minutes later after replacing John Herron.

County pulled a goal back in the 82nd minute but Celtic hung on to take full points to make it three wins in a row.

While other clubs duck out of fixtures due to international commitments Celtic’s attitude is to get matches played and give younger players experience with several u-17 players involved tonight.

Earlier in the day Denny Johnstone had scored the Scotland goal in a 1-1 draw with Germany that takes Scotland through to the next stage of the u-19 European Championships.

Johnstone followed up his winning goal against Belarus on Saturday with a goal after two minutes against the Germans as Scotland finished the round robin event in second spot with five points from three matches with Liam Henderson and Jamie Lindsay also featuring.

Next week that trio will return to the Celtic fold for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Ajax.
